*World of the Living Dead*

  • Official web page: LINK
  • Media type and size: Download
  • Genre: MMOZS (Massive Multiplayer Online Zombie Survival)
  • Release date: TBA, currently in beta
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

Everyone assumed that the world would be able to deal with the zombie apocalypse when it finally happened.

We all knew how to kill zombies. We'd seen the films. Aim for the head.
It didn't quite work out like that...

The zombies were slow. The National Emergency Control and Relief Agency insisted they were "no real threat". But the numbers kept increasing.

Citizens were fingerprinted and issued a NECRA ID card in preparation for evacuation.
It was no use. The police and military were overwhelmed.
    Organized evacuation efforts collapsed.

But NECRA had a plan. A plan their scientists claimed was the last chance for humanity.
It was no longer a case of stopping the rise of the dead.

The survival of the human race was now at stake.
Large groups lead to infection. Society needs to adapt. The Survival Cell System has been put into action.

NECRA operatives were individually sealed into secure locations with extended supplies at the very last moment.
Satellites have been dedicated to track the movement of the dead and provide a basic comms network.
These operatives have a difficult task: to ensure the survival of anyone who finds a NECRA emergency radio.

    Survival at all costs...

    Zombies walk the earth!

World of the Living Dead is a massively-multiplayer zombie game which features strategy gameplay and life or death resource management in a huge game universe.
    What's your plan?

Scavenge for food and weapons. Risk staying in the city where the pickings are rich but the competition is fierce. Attack other players for supplies or form factions to rid your area of the zombie menace. Choose how you want to deal with the apocalypse and develop your characters as they learn how to survive.

  • Multiplayer: YES

I love the permadeath idea and the looting corpses. Makes the time playing really count!

I've yet to see a browser game that wouldn't completely suck, but yeah it sounds so good I'm willing to give it a try. Requested a few beta keys, hope I get at least one. Razz

Oooh, it could just be game bugs then - not browser specific. Are you having issues clicking certain buttons, sYn? that's what's happening to me on Chrome. I can't even run the tutorial Laughing

Sounds the same to me, I can't close the tutorial popup and the necro points bar seems to have appeared in the wrong place.

I expected an american store clerk to know how to shoot. How I was wrong.

Combat reports
Squad A encountered zeds - watch their Fear!
William Wolansky used 9 rounds
1 zed put down

Still doing the tutorial, but I'm kinda getting into this.

I can't get past the Manage Inventory tutorial part since there aren't any actual items to pick up. Sad

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Apparently if there's a location at the same place as your mission objective you have to turn off locations and click the objective under.

So umm.. At the part of the tutorial where I need to rest at a safehouse. Only problem, there's no safehouse in sight.

Edit: Well I found one, had to go through a red zone to get there. Almost lost my whole squad, hah.

Edit2: Right.. Won't be playing this then. It has what I hate about other browser games - the godawful play-time limits. After a bit of playing, you will be forced to wait several real-time hours in a safehouse, doing nothing.

Better still, how on earth do you find the Just Hide button during the tutorial?

yeah I just thought the same thing. I got into the beta, started playing for like 5 minutes and then everyone had 'Fear' at 100% and now it seems I have to wait for a day until I can do anything again.
Seemed interesting enough but there's really nothing to do now...

isn't it on the map view above your list of people?

Had a bit of a problem with that myself, you have to move to a random spot in the map ( not a book mark) and then you'll find it easily above the team status... got into the beta today as well, seems to be a waiting game more than anything :/
