Help in cropping a mp4 file

so compressed a movie in a mp4 but set the aspect ratio wrong and its now got this black bars , so is there a way to crop a mp4 file ?

other then converting your material to avi cropping and decoding it mp4 ?
I only want to copy the source and crop the image a bit not decode the whole thing a new

You can't.

Don't recompress the MP4 (or whatever "converting your material to avi cropping and decoding it mp4" means). Take the source and compress that properly this time. If you need help, PM me.

He has probably overwritten the changes onto the initial source. That's why he needs help cropping out the file. Cool Face

i am not that stupid but it took 3h to make Sad fuck


Edit: on second though i will have to compress it again with different aspect ratio... now with "Fully Expanded" aspect ratio

changing the ratio to "Fully Expanded" helped with my project.

if the only thing wrong is the aspect ratio and you really want to avoid extra work, and you're not worried about wide functionality (in dvd players, etc), you can just change the pixel aspect ratio and it'll save without quality loss/recompression
it's not widely supported beyond the major software players though, or very unreliably
