Very true, this should be shown to all teenagers who wants to work in the industry.
If you're not in the core of the industry, and are one of a few select and lucky elite, it's far more glorious and profitable making cms software for dentists.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
More on topic: I live in Irvine, home of Blizzard. They actively recruit on our campus, and I've used to work for a couple of game publishers, many of whom had ex-Blizzard employees. The impression I got is the game development industry is worse than the worst Indian churn-and-burn software factory. The Ex-Blizzard employees always had stories about how they would only hire a bunch of people for 6-12 months to work on certain parts of the game, and then get rid of them after the game was done, as if they were trash. True, Blizzard maintains a strong core of talented artists, designers, executives and more (which accounts for their success), but the rest of the company they treat as disposable human capital. I got similar impressions with other game devs studios I worked with. If anything, it was worse because I got to witness the long hours and extreme stress they worked under. 80 hour work-week is an understatement, and they all made under $55k (which for a talented software developer is a joke. Many places offer undergrads starting salaries at $65k straight out of college...).
Like I said, I was on the publishing side. I was simply a contractor so I worked my own hours and was immune from layoffs. I always had more business lined up and wasn't worried if the game publishing work dried up. So I had a pretty relaxed experience in the industry. The publisher I worked a lot at also seemed pretty relaxed. Very little happened, we just handled business logistics and bullied the devs and got rich off their hard work. Pure and simple. So if you're looking to get into the biz, my limited experience says get into publishing.
But hey, then again, I don't really have that much experience with industry. So take all that I say with a grain of salt.
A tad bit too cynical, even though much or most of it is very true, but nothing we didn't know already.
Kids might need to see it, and hopefully not all of them will stay away from the gaming industry even though it can be shit.. I do like games, afterall
