How about this?
Never saw any good Samsung to be honest... |
That's weird, because almost all LG's I've seen looked like crap and pictures weren't that great :\
It all depends on the type of panel, even more on the manufacturer of the panels. I got lucky I have Samsungs TN panel, but depending on where you live you might get CMO, or Optronics panel...
It's a gamble

AU Optronics is better than Samsung, and by a decent margin as well.
With LG you can tell which one you're getting though, assuming the shop doesn't lie. If Alternate use LG's model number correctly, the above is the original 2261V with AU Optronics panel. Very good response, under 1 frame input lag and default colours at a deltaE of just 2.5 - that is ridiculously good.
Now, if Alternate are lying, what they really sell you is the 2261VP. LG always add a "P" or "PF" suffix to the models with Philips panel. That has less accurate colours, and most Philips panels have shit response times as well.
For monitors, you simply need to check reviews; www.digitalversus.com are one of the best for this, but the monitor you're looking at might not be on there.

Hmmm weird, I thought that Samsungs better (at least that's what I've read back in the day when I was interested in the type of my panel)...

No, AU and Samsung traded blows in the past. AU has since become better though, most importantly in the field of colour accuracy. Samsung panels often still need quite a bit of calibration, and there's more and more AU panels that are like the one above, shipping with a deltaE under 3

Honestly mate, like I said, you need to check reviews. All the brands have good and bad monitors these days. LED also doesn't HAVE to be good, as a bad one will be annoying as hell to look at. Again, reviews, reviews, reviews (check the link to DV I gave you above).
