Ummm...so i fucked up a hdd.. here is how.

I took a working drive from a smashed laptop.. hitatchi sata drive.
Was going to just recover the data on it for the owner but decided for fun perhaps i should see if i can actually boot from it.
Well bluescreened on boot and i left the room.
When i came back it was on a disc recovery proces...oops.
Then to make matters worse i killed the power to the rig during the recovery.

Now i can';t seem to do shit with the drive.
It's detected but i can't boot with it a a second hdd as normal and it's making odd noise.
When i conect it after booting into windows and get it to show up via device manager it crashes windows.

Tried booting with the lappy drive with windows 7 disc in to recover windows but it hangs on the "starting windows" screen before any repair install options etc.

Tried using hirens boot cd and i can boot into that with the drive hooked up but i have no idea what i'm doing in there so it's been another dead end.

Anybody got any ideas?

Pretty embarrassing i should no better but i was kinda drunk Razz

Did not go well.
After all the loading and the drive going haywire ended up with a black screen and the drive making a popping sound like the arm has finally detached itself...

I really screwed the pooch on this.
