The novelty wears of really fast, yo are warned. The 3D technique for TVs is just getting started, so your TV will probably be obselete in the very near future.

well the TV itself is pretty damn amazing ... I needed a new tv anyway so no biggie Wink
3d is just an added feature to a already amazing screen.

Anyway - I have been waiting to add 3d technology to my setup for a while and already running 3d vision on my pc ... I really like 3d and will continue to invest into this technology Wink

U certainly aint the only one. I had a hard time watching a 3d movie at the cinema. Had to take the glasses off every 5 mins to be able to adapt Razz

Just got a 3D tv myself, like you, i dont really need it but 3D is added to most new TVs nowadays anyway.

My verdict on home 3D:

movies: okayish

Gaming: Great will use all the time

Sadly not many games support it. Surprisingly the 2d to 3d feature works pretty good with games, not so good on regular tv shows.

I just can not believe that a pair of 3d glasses cost about 150 bucks. Thank fuck one pair was included

ok so this is another thing I wanted to share:

Playing games with Nvidia 3D Vision on my pc was basically not adding any value in terms of gameplay (if I tried playing COD in 3d in multiplayer i would get owned basically). It was ok for driving simulations but always had some technical glitch that made the gameplay inconsistent.
The TV version (SOny 3dtv / glasses) simply does not have a flaw so far. It works well in shooters on both ps3 and xbox (cod on xbox360 in 3d is actually better than non 3d and does not affect gameplay in a negative way) so at least compared to 3d Vidion this is sooo much better.
Also, when going to movies i also had to rub my eyes here and there just out of discomfort, but I get none of that in my home setup. The sony glasses fit well and for some reason it feels like just watching non 3d content through the glasses - still provides a better experience!

Overall, for technology that did not cost me anymore than just buying a regular tv, it gives me opportunity to experience something new, and I am sure that things will only get better from this point. I cannot wait for Tron to come out in 3dBD!!

I too have jumped on the 3D bandwagon , ordered a new tv tonight and it has 3D , i didnt buy for that reason but was buying a new tv anyway so the 3D is a bonus feature, and to top it off Sky tv provide a 3D channel at no extra cost to me so all in all its not costing me anymore as i was buying a new tv , plus i got a good deal with 4 pairs of 3d glasses thrown in for under £1000

I am waiting for 3D to not require glasses anymore. They are already made, just pricey. Still too soon to jump on the 3D bandwagon. I prefer to buy an established highly rated HDTV with the best picture and know if it does need repair down the road, a tech will be able to fix it.

If you don't mind the investment, why not. But I think I'll "wait and see the cat out of the tree." Which means I'll wait and see how the technology will develop. The technology is still very young and some things may still change. Kind of a bummer if my tv wouldn't have features that may become standard in 2013. Going for 3D now feels a bit like buying a flatscreen tv in 2004. Plus I don't like the glasses. The Nintendo 3DS doesn't require goggles... perhaps the same might happen for tvs.

hi Delix - while I did my reasearch I always like sammy displays better because of the blacks. The Sony displays were always a bit too shiny for me. So when choosing a display and considering 3D I ended up going with Sony because in 3d that bit of extra brighness makes it great. I am very happy with my purchase so far.

you guys need to cut it out with the use of derp ... it's getting old as saying "winning" Wink

Seriously, i don't like wearing glasses too much either - but Ai noticed i will only watch 3d at night in full room darkness for enhanced effect anyway and i am fine with it - I have to say that Sony made very comfortable glasses that do not bother me in any way on my face or with eye strain.
People that knock the technology purely out of their own disinterest with no actual knowledge about it or actual use are royal derps Wink
