A Game of Thrones: Genesis is a strategy game, based on George R.R. Martin's novels A Song of Ice and Fire, that plunges you into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Families that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros.

Thanks to a well-developed single player campaign written under supervision of the author George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones: Genesis immerses you into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Houses that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros. Live the origins of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga through more than 1000 years of History, and take part in Westeros' founding events and largest battles such as Aegon the Conqueror's invasion on the continent or the War of the Usurper.

A Game of Thrones: Genesis immerses you into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Houses that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros. From Nymeria's arrival in the Kingdom of Dorne to the awakening of the "Others" beyond the Wall, you'll live the origins of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga through more than 1000 years of history. Take part in Westeros' founding events and largest battles such as Aegon the Conqueror's invasion on the continent or the War of the Usurper.

A Game of Thrones: Genesis will require you to match your political prowess with your strategic and military skills!

However, victory does not necessarily result from brute force. The innovative game mechanics provide players with numerous paths to success: will you opt for a military, economic or diplomatic approach? Trickery, treachery and deceit are widespread and you will constantly have to watch your back if you want to avoid a bitter defeat!

Peacefully or forcefully annex surrounding territories, besiege enemy castles, send spies to infiltrate behind enemy lines, assassinate trouble-making officers or capture them to ask for a ransom... When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground!

Platform(s): PC
Genre: Strategy
Publisher: Focus Home Interactive
Developer: Cyanide Studio
Release Date: Summer 2011

Cool, I'll definitely check it out as I'm a fan of the books.
Not enough information about it yet to tell if it's actually gonna be a good game though...

Huge fan of GRRM and his Song of Ice and Fire series ... I want this to be good.

The lack of details keeps the hype down at least.

Wow one would need to take a time machine to applaud the graphics :/

A shame this just looks like Age of Empire with diplomacy...I would much rather it had been like the total war series or better yet some paradox in-house release.

Had a rather low price so I bought it, Gamersgate version and it seems they just need for some release announcement or something (Steamworks.) since the serial key is now available.
(But you can't acquire it, just says available.)

With the complexity of the series, the game version would seem better suited as a strategy game akin to Total War rather than some kind of RTS.

EDIT: Steamworks, 7 GB.
(Now in the correct thread again, Bindings of Isaac will be Steamworks but is likely not 7 GB.)

It's tages (activation.x86.dll) plus steam (steam_api.dll) though the latter might not mean much.

Going to take around six hours at the current download speed so it'll run overnight but if there is no release tomorrow I should be able to say more about the game.
(If there is there's probably a lot of info on the game already I'd imagine.)

Finished the tutorial stages at least, there's four of them and they walk you through the basics but there's a lot more to learn (As the tutorial tells you.) so I probably only understand part of the game mechanics.

Tutorial level was fairly simplified with two houses opposite one another and some town and castle buildings inbetween, most of the tutorial covered unit usage but also the importance of several of these buildings.

It's a bit simplified but most units have multiple roles and there's quite a few things to keep track on while playing the game from the victory points (Not exactly what they're called.) to the peace / war progress bar.

Not entirely sure how to describe the game thus far but the tutorial definitively showed there was much more to the game than I thought and there's a large focus on the actual strategy part.

Envoys for example can negotiate alliances but can be blocked by guards, bribed, assassinated and imprisoned to name a few things, noble ladies can then be used in arranged marriages to further strengthen alliances but they can likewise be assassinated to break these, spies investigate loyalty of town and units, reveals guards and have other useful attributes whereas assassins have two different ways to assassinate depending on whether or not you've detected nearby guards plus of course both of these units can be bribed and will instead deceive the player.
(False alliances and secret pacts, assassinated units not really killed and so on.)

Wasn't much shown about combat or military other than how to draft and supply a army but there's a variety of interesting methods here too such as hiding units in foliage, which units are good against what and some other things.

Audio and visuals work OK but both are fairly basic though I like the music track provided, it's difficult to describe much of the game from just the tutorial but so far I'm fairly impressed but we'll see what the other modes offer (The campaign and then the house vs house, skirmishes I believe they're like.)

Will be interesting to see how the game is received and rated, so far though I enjoy it but it's probably better to check more detailed reviews or if available also a variety of videos about the game, this is just some first impressions at best and not exactly a thorough review of the game.

EDIT: Right I also forgot about the noble lords whom are the most important characters, if they are killed you either win or lose depending on if there was any successors (Pure blood marriage and not bastards, another aspect of the game to try and learn more about I guess.) also there's a very large encyclopedia that covers a variety of useful information and game mechanics.

EDIT: Various images from the intro to near the end of the tutorial, a bit basic but they should explain better than I could. Smile
