...and a company named "Spawn Lab" which develops game streaming technology (similar to OnLive).

http://techcrunch.com/2011/03/31/gamestop-acquires-game-streaming-startup-spawn-labs-and-distribution-platform-impulse/

Wow.. I didn't expect Impulse to be acquired by another company.. I wonder how much Gamestop paid for it.

http://news.bigdownload.com/2011/03/31/stardocks-brad-wardell-reveals-more-about-impulse-sale-to-games/#continued

Quote:
Wardell told us that the idea of selling Impulse began when it became clear that the download service was generating more and more revenue for Stardock. He told us that he did not have any desires to run a larger company and as such the deal with GameStop to sell off the Impulse business came at a good time. Wardell told the deal is a win for PC gamers as a whole as GameStop is moving more and more aggressively into the PC game download business.

While specifics of the deal were not disclosed Wardell did say that all of Stardock's Impulse team members would now be GameStop employees. He also said that Impulse and its team members would be moving in the coming months out of Stardock's offices in Plymouth, Michigan to GameStop's headquarters in Dallas, Texas. There will not be any layoffs at Stardock due to this deal, according to Wardell. He also told us that for the foreseeable future all of Stardock's internal and third party games would continue to be released exclusively via Impulse under the new GameStop owners.

So he sold it because it was doing good? O-okay..

I wonder what will happen to those who don't want to move from a state that borders Canada to the state that borders Mexico!

If it is an April Fool's (which seems unlikely given the date), it's a very poor one. Gamestop is quoted on the NYSE, and if it's revealed that it's a joke, the share price will have moved significantly enough from the news/retraction that the SEC would probe it for irregularities.

They updated their Terms
I've oft wondered about the people who write in caps, that is to say scream at you on the internet, now I know what kind of people do that.

Quote:
IMPULSE DOES NOT GUARANTEE, REPRESENT, OR WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, AND YOU AGREE THAT FROM TIME TO TIME IMPULSE MAY SUSPEND, LIMIT, OR REMOVE THE SERVICE FOR INDEFINITE PERIODS OF TIME, OR CANCEL THE SERVICE AT ANY TIME, WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU. FURTHER, IMPULSE MAKES NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY TO YOU THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS OR REQUIREMENTS; (B) THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE; (C) THE QUALITY OF THE SERVICE OR PURCHASED OR DOWNLOADED PRODUCTS WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS; OR (D) THE SERVICE, THE IMPULSE CLIENT SOFTWARE, OR ANY PURCHASED OR DOWNLOADED PRODUCT WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER SYSTEM.

Also, so much for gamers bill of rights.
