Ive oc-d my card a bit and using stock cooler. Temps are max 89 at load and around 40 at idle, which shouldnt be lethal. My 8800gt managed to still work at 110 Very Happy. With some games and sometimes even on desktop on idle I get this weird artifact. Screen moves to the left and the left side comes out from the right side of the monitor. Basically my right side of the screen is actually in the middle of the monitor. Everything else works on normally. To get rid of it i either reboot or take my clock off and quit the game or w/e. Sometimes reboot is the only option. Its kinda weird since im used to artifacts being a flicker or just plain old crashing. Could it be a faulty card or is 89C really high enough to cause artifacts.

Don't revert back to your default settings yet. Just lower your overclock a bit and see if it happens again.

No, 90C won't be causing that. It might be a case of just slightly too high clocks though. Try lowering them; start with memory (the #1 culprit for odd issues), lower that by 10 MHz or so and see if it still occurs Smile

I had similar stuff with my 5870; my card had inferior memory chips on it, so I couldn't reach the same clocks on memory as most others. I could do 975 MHz on stock voltage perfectly stable though, so that shows how big the difference can be between cards Smile

my oc settings atm are: voltage 1.274 (stock is 1.174), core 980 (stock 915), memory 1110 (core 1050). So the clocks are actually really low. People usually get over 1000 core and near or over 1200 memory. Kinda disappointing tbh. but I guess not being able to oc is not a valid reason to return a card.

Well downclock the memory to 1100 or even further down, see if you still get that strange shit going on Smile

Don't think the 6870 is memory limited anyway, core bumping will have a bigger effect.
