|
 |
fucking piece of shit catalyst... everytime I update the driver, select a new resolution with new refresh rate, this fucking piece of shit always activates overscan, thus scaling down the image and making fonts unreadable and adding black bars around the screen.
Is there a way to permanently disable this "feature" forever and not just for one resolution/refresh rate at a time?
Windows 7 x64, cat 11.3 (just updated and still the same fuck), radeon 4850 here...

I've had plenty of problems with Catalyst related to TV on my laptop. Whenever I switch resolutions, for example, it decides the max refresh rate of my TV is 75Hz, not 60Hz, thus impossible to use the native resolution. I have to go, rescan the monitors to make it find the correct refresh rate - until the next time. Now this was fine and dandy when I wasn't disconnecting the laptop from the TV, but I have two TVs, and that laptop was my HTPC.
But Frant will accuse me of trolling.

I don´t understand that this is suppose to be a problem still? Ive had this problem in the past, but it´s been fixed for nearly a year. Just today I updated my ATI drivers and still no problems. But yes this problem is really really lame.

Some say it's because of Win 7 x64... this CCC is a piece of shit, takes almost a minute to load and hogs up almost 200mb of ram. for a fucking simple application -_- and it doesn't even work properly

Why not DVI?

@Frant My laptop didn't have HDMI, so it was through VGA - the source of ATI problems for years. Actually never had issues when connected the 4870X2 to the TV with HDMI. But VGA is too much for ATI/AMD and their awesome drivers derpartment.

My 4850 only has two DVI outputs, so I use a DVI 2 HDMI output.
And this option you are showing frant, is what is initially always set to 15%! This means that the image is shrunk by 15% and the rest is just black Always have to go into this setting and set it back to 0%. And randomly(!!) when there is a resolution switch or a re-fresh of the display (for example when the windows uac is active, the overscan is set to 15% again
My problem is that I want to set this thing to 0% ONE time and not each and every time I use another resolution.
Didn't have ANY problems like that on my 8800GTS

Regarding memory I just looked at commit size, that is the wrong one? (combined MOM and CCC = 160MB)
btw my opera just uses 83 MB of RAM for 9 tabs including lots of pics

Maybe your CCC starts faster because you have it in your autostart? I kicked that thing from there so that it does hog up less memory. (still made no difference with overscan )
And my TV is being properly recognized. But in homefront f.e. I HAD to play in 1280x720 because in 1920x1080 no matter what, I had overscan! I switched my desktop to 24Hz, 50Hz, 59Hz, 60Hz, 61Hz and set overscan to 0% on all of them, still no luck. And I didn't find any option in homefront to fix the refresh rate. (I found some settings for the Unreal Engine 3 in general, put them into the config files, but no luck either )

Your problem are most likely NOT caused by CCC but by your TV's EDID-profile (quite common).
You can use MonInfo to extract, check and create your own profiles: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm

I can only add HD TV formats, no sub HD formats and I can't directly add the refresh rate and force it to have 0 overscan. Why is it the fault of my TV when the 8800GTS didn't have any problems at all? I'll try your tool, thx!
@Leo: Could I use Rivatuner too? Never used PowerStrip I think :/

1080p is the native resolution
"Native/preferred timing.. 1920x1080p at 60Hz (16:9)"
And Crysis 2 etc is on 1080p too. No problems there. But after reinstalling the CATALYST I had to ALT TAB out of the game and set to 0% overscan...

Yet in the list below 720p is marked as native. Hence my question whether it's an HD-Ready TV, as some of them support 1080i/p partially (i.e. only with one specific refresh rate or such).
