I remember spending hours at a time on TM just trying to shave off another .03 off my time to get that next medal. Making tracks with the editor was a blast too. It's the closest anyone has come to "Stunts" (4D Sports Driving in some locations) in 20 years.
Nadeo has improved upon that foundation with TrackMania2 Canyon, delivering tremendous advances in graphic quality, racing realism and network infrastructure while maintaining the intuitive gameplay, captivating racing modes and familiar community tools that make the TrackMania series unique.
Also:
In addition to TrackMania2 Canyon, a closed beta of ShootMania, ManiaPlanet’s FPS, will be available in the coming months. QuestMania, an RPG, also will be available via closed beta at a later date. The result will be a single ManiaPlanet community where players are free to engage with any of the three games however they choose, whether by creating and communicating, organizing and cooperating, competing, or simply playing for fun.

I remember playing trackmania where everyone is in a gran prix car?
Used to play that quiet alot still loads play it now going to have a try .
Yeah that was very early on in its existence; Formula cars doing crazy shit (like in the old game Stunts, so brilliant <3). They added different cars later on, which really do handle completely different.
I love Trackmania, won't hesitate to buy this one either if they keep it as simple good fun as it has always been. It takes ridiculous skill to get the hardest tracks done properly. I just hope they keep the different styles, because a race track is entirely different from a platform one for example (speed and accuracy versus making calculated jumps).

Has nothing to do with being early on in its existence. The free version, Tackmania Nations, still only uses the single car. You can *see* other cars if others are using the paid version but you'll only get to use the open wheeled car.

I don't know what you mean by "very early on in its existence" and "added different cars later on"? Stadium environment is the last one introduced to the series.
Before that there were already bunch of different versions of TrackMania with 6 different environments.
The proper original (which was what, 2004? 2003? Ages ago anyway) had that. Then Sunrise added Island/Bay/Coast and the Platform mode. I should've probably said Nations, because that's when the game really took off, mostly thanks to the ESWC. For most people that's when the game started, with United and the Forever versions being the "updates" (although I don't think they added anything that was already in one of the previous editions). That's what it's like for escapist and most of the players online nowadays.
Yes, I wasn't even aware of the series before Nations (neither were my friends).

Thanks for the idea Lutz!
We have decided to enable players from the beta to release information such as oppinions, screenshots and videos, starting this Sunday at 14:00.
I have tried to keep the beta as closed as possible until now. The more there are players in the beta, the less it is easy to secure, but we also would like to try to give the opportunity to the community to communicate themselves on the title. It will be limited to the multiplayer beta, while the full game, including the multiplayer with the most recent evolutions, will go through traditionnal press first.
After interviews made in english, more to come in french \o/, I also decided to let a german article to be released before the date, tonight. They have been warned in advance and it should help to avoid seeing first comments made too much in hurry tomorrow.
This whole idea is an experiment, and we will see if it was a good idea in around two weeks from there and the most important is that we need to try.
It is part of a plan to be announced this Wednesday that should make the wait maybe smaller.
And I am sure the Nadeo team will watch closely! "
