Earlier this morning, on April 26th, Microsoft unbanned every single console that has ever been banned from Xbox Live. It is uncertain if Microsoft has a backup of all the banned consoles but as for now, there are no signs of the consoles being rebanned. With the unbanning of all the KV's this means all your Jtags will be unbanned as well, however booting them will still result in a near instant ban!
It would be clever if Microsoft did this to inspire the people deprived of PS3 to reuse the server, however this seems more like a human error. Regardless of the situation, someone is going to be in a lot of trouble for this one!
In order to do this you are going to need to take your banned console and plug it into live, then you are going to have to manually update your dash using this file
http://www.xbox.com/system-update-usb Simply put that on the root of a USB stick and
reboot the console, it should automatically start installing the update. Its the update coming with Portal 2
P.S. I realize this isn't a DEAL but it might save a lot of people money if they don't have to buy a new box/suddenly now have a working second. Also, I don't condone any behavior that got them banned in the first place, so don't do it again! |
I confirm that its really working, 2 of my banned 360's that i have here are back online.
Is this a dodgy move from MS to bring more users on Live since PSN is down???

Why have they been unbanned though? Maybe M$ will just ban them all again.

Oh this will lead to a major shitstorm. I'm quite sure that you'll find quite some more xboxes on the ebays and craigslists and the moment ms shutsdown live again, you'll have a lot of angry customers of used consoles

i got to say it seems kinda suspect. sony gets raped in the ass by anonymous or who the fuck ever. ms is working on a new disc format. whats to say they didn't go "hey grand opportunity here, tons of po'ed ps3 users who probably have banned 360s. good opportunity here to log data of what will no doubt be thousands of hacked consoles flooding in to use in our research to stop this shit with our new disc format. plant the seed and spread the word!"
or it could've been linked to the amazon thing.
