Quote: | I am happy to announce that we’re doing an Xbox 360 System Update Preview program for our next release, and the opportunity to sign up is now available. We are conducting an open call for US based participants* for a public preview to help us prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format. This is an important update as we continually strive to improve our products and we could not do so without the help of our great Xbox community. As part of the preview program, you will receive a copy of Halo: Reach along with other possible rewards.
Much like we did last year, you’ll need to visit the Microsoft Connect site from this link and sign in with your Windows LIVE ID that is connected to your Xbox LIVE Gamertag. Once you complete the survey that is presented to you, the Connect site will provide program related updates and you will receive a mail once the selection process is completed.
A couple of points before you head off to register:
- We’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.
- This opportunity is open to Xbox LIVE Members in US region only*.
- To avoid any problems, read the survey carefully and double check all the information you provide.
- While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
*Due to disc distribution limitations, this beta it will be limited to residents of the United States only. |

Eeek! | the thing is they had to do IT , why? because they hit a wall when they hit Wave 11 DVD-9 disk partition ... for me it reads they are testing a new file system that can have a 20-30 more Waves and still have 6.5 gig space for game data that is compatible with Xbox360 [smaller mbr file on the disk to translate the partition data and a change in the layer brake]... no biggie for us , old games will work but new ones will have a new file system, we would only need new ways to dump isos from those disc and new flash to recognize this system

We should all sign up to gather data and give it to C4E.
Quote: | [2011-03-29 11:11PM UTC] #fw <c4eva-> MS will introduce xgd3 – this will add more ap checks, cvi (content integerity) checks, increase the disc size and adds a new layer for protection issues – all in the 20500 sdk! bring it on! smile.gif |
This guy loves a challenge.
Also some other info on XGD3
Quote: | Now you ask what it is exactly? Microsoft will introduce the so-called XGD3 disc formats from around late April / early May. Currently, the XGD2 (Xbox Game Disc 2) formats in use. The disc image will always have a fixed size of about 6.8GB net and as such are limited to this maximum limit. The format offers something XGD3 about 1GB more memory (also net) and reached thus roughly 7.8GB. This 1GB available to developers of course. However, this new hash checks and anti-piracy measures are used. This XGD3 disc image (if one can read in the conventional way), cannot be burned to a commercially available double-layer discs, because they are outside the size capacity. During pressing of the discs in the press shop are virtually forced validation data to the extreme edges of the disc, which on the one hand, the verification, on the other hand, as an anti-copying system, since these sectors are not to describe blanks, not to mention the fact that Brenner these do Außnahmesituationen can only describe.
Microsoft reached so many years, an almost sure way to stem the Kopierbarkein. This is especially which are now contained to a plague which has become piracy. Only JTAG owners need not imply any idea of what to do next. Text of flying short shrug their shoulders and jump to the next topic.
For everyone else this means, however, that in future, first no more games can be copied. (Personally, I welcome this step, the longest was necessary in some form!).
The introduction is so well established, however, also certain that we can expect from almost all programs, the new version that can deal from now on with the XGD3. On the hardware side the way, no interference is expected. XGD3 discs will work with all previously released (and future) models of the Xbox 360. |
Guess it was good i bought a JTAG.

so they go with TAGES burning ,adding ap on the overburn waveout... the thing is you can read TAGES DVD9 but you need to read this DVD9 two times [normal and backwards to have the dpm]
to make it piratable they have to do 4 things:
make a program that can read a Video DVD backwards or check if TAGES DUMPING WORKS on those dvd9
extract the new ap from the overburn sectors
add a rootkit Ap emulator to the flash
Create a new abgx checker that edits TOC

dangerouseddy wrote: | i dont think you can overburn dvd9 discs. | and yet Tages does that , the thing here you need a new media L0 layer brake setting and finding out how many mb can your media hold With NeroDiskSpeed to burn the new TOC
so now we know things like: it will have new L0 , and poorman's protection in waveout like Tages
haha i brings back memories of 80min and 99min CDs from the my SEGA DreamCast days

there is already the Non-Jtag method... not perfect but seems to be unpatchble.

We have had such protections on PC for years and it worked well since you could run any application on your PC you want to emulate the missing sectors. On the X360 there is one big difference: there is only a limited amount of space on the DVD drive to fit the manipulated firmware. Adding such an emulator into the firmware is one thing, but fitting it on the drive is different.
I don't mean say it's uncrackable, just that it could turn out to be a tougher nut than expected.
