They had no music on - other than in their earphones.

Explain this to me, if a cop asks you not to do something to maintain public peace, why would you do it on purpose in his face and then whine about it when he arrests you. If you dont like it, complain at the authorities rather then taunting the policemen. However they wont do that since they come to create chaos and disorder rather than change things fundamentally.
Because cops aren't the law, they should maintain it. A cop also follows a set of rules just like everyone else, they somehow seem to think they don't. And asking someone not to kiss in public because it's it disturbs public peace is just weak, that's like saying that you're wearing the wrong kind of sneakers and it's disturbing the public peace...
It's not like those people were standing there waving their hands screaming and pushing people around and being hostile towards bystanders, quite the opposite, they were pretty much minding their own business.
"public peace" exactly HOW would dancing or kissing affect public peace? You think it would bring chaos and mayhem???
Im not defending the banning of kissing and dancing within monument grounds, Im attacking the people who still danced and kissed, KNOWING it would lead to a heavy police response. There are many ways to fight an injust law/rule and the one they picked is the most provocative and ineffective. Just in that moment they alienated all other people there that just wanted to enjoy that day within the monument grounds, because those people also had to leave because that bunch decided to play the attentionwhore.
Again dont misunderstand, Im not defending the fucking law. Im criticizing the way the protestors went about protesting against that law.

And just how do you suggest they fight the law? An internet petition? Civil disobedience gave India its independence. It's the most peaceful and effective way of fighting injustice. And you reasoning is backwards; the protestors didn't provoke the law, the law provoked a protest.
edit: ahh.. this feels right, doesn't it rage? Yeah.. give it to me hard bitch!

I dont like the law which prevents me from forcing myself into your bedroom and dance, so Im going to force myself into your bedroom and dance.

Well - as long as your a good dancer...

Well you could do that Rage, and if you thought people would support you it would be a good idea to promote awareness of that stupid "anti-break-in-and-dancing-law". But you know no one would so it'd be pretty stupid, wouldn't it?
Following your line of reasoning we'd all die if someone passed a stupid law banning breathing. And Gandhi and Martin Luther King would only criminals.
Civil disobedience works, and is morally correct, when you have enough people behind you. The true power in a society is derived from its citizens, and if law-makers are out of touch with the interests of those citizens then the law-makers are wrong and the law should not be adhered to.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make, the severity of the things that are wrong with the law should dictate what action to take, we'd all revolt if we werent allowed to breathe by the government, however a law that bans dancing and kissing on monumental grounds hardly needs to be protested against in the manner that was displayed. They could have gone to the media or authorities themselves rather than play the angry civil movement at the cost of everyones pleasure.

Gone to the media or authorities? Are you kidding me?
What they did IS going to the media. The proper media. They got people (like us) talking about it. It worked. So while you might not agree that the protest was called for, you can't possibly deny it's been far far more effective than whining about it to a politician who won't listen. And as the severity of the crime/law isn't all that imposing, well then neither is the breaking of that law.

Yes the goal has been reached, they have truly touched my heart for their cause and I will totally make sure the issue gets adressed.
Personally I'd love to see them get another beating for ruining the day for all other visitors, but ofcourse everything has to make way for your queer campaigne for justice. I cant believe you are honestly agreeing to this approach whilst it has clearly done more good than harm for other bystanders. I hope you did watch the entire video where the monument gets closed for the rest of the day because of the "rightful protests".

Fuck those cops. I hope every one of them and their leadership gets fucked up the ass with a cane.
The people continue dancing because it's a public fucking place and we should be able to do anything we want. (Within reason) Saying you can't dance at a public place is a fucking disgrace.
