Afghanistan is a FAIL.

The Arab Spring is happening without western involvement (atleast overt involvement).
The younger gen knows they can change things and become part of the world....not either a) rich and corrupt b) dirt poor

Personally, I would like to see Canada remove its troops from Afghanistan but our stupid PM (Canadian George Bush) has committed us to 'training'...so basically, no withdrawl.
Have 2 friends with the reg forces in there right now and a few other guys with other....lets say units (u know what i mean syn).

Democracy is not made with guns, but with reasoning, informing and communicating with the ppl...

Also democracy isn't measured by the size of your guns...

That's what I hate about USA. They keep preaching how they are implementing democracy over there Rolling Eyes

Rebuilt then, don't destroy...

Amen. We spent the Cold War shoving democracy/autocracy(see Latin America) down everyone's throat, and in the process we killed millions and lost any moral superiority we had after the 2nd World War. Foreign policy officially hit rock bottom when we chose to invade and occupy Iraq on trumped up charges, something reminiscent of Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany.

IMO US foreign policy should be interventionist, but limited to massive aid for those who need it, such as the Marshall Plan, or the defense of Korea in '51, or more recently Operation Desert Shield. But to go around killing democratically elected leaders, to ruin nations economies, to invade counties on pretexts so fabricated that they seem like Nazi propaganda, this is the kind of shit that makes puke.

There has been a major change concerning this situation, that makes this a new discussion, rather than a old.

Osama Bin Laden has been killed (apparently), the majority of US population is opposed to your continued presence in Afghanistan.

Yet, your Democratic government, which serves to represent the will of the population, continues to do whatever it wants to do.

Wasn't preaching to him, was merely replying to his remark about my forums, and mistakenly did it in the first person rather than the third! Wink

@Ron

U know the reason the US/Allies are in Afganistan still.....the mineral deposits and natural resources they found.
Plus its a good way to torture prisoners in that supermax compound (cant remember name)....since they can't do it officially in the US.

The powers that be are jockying for position for the water wars....ppl think oil is the reason and it is part of it right at this moment....10-20 years, its gunna be all about water.
I'm safe as a Canuck but the Yanks need our water and a ton more if they want to survive.

Not to mention the war economy. Lots of ppl have made gazillions of bucks over the last 10 years man. U and I both know it.
Should be illegal to prosper off of war but alas, there are the loop holes like in any other industry.
