some time in the 90s, probably late 90s
there was an american anthology miniseries that always started in a cafe that was outside normal reality
the cafe was just out in the desert, in the middle of nothing, in the night with no sources of light visible apart from the lights in the cafe
i think the bartender was the devil
and this would always serve as an intro to the show before the story started
i can't remember any individual episode stories
but i think the last episode dealt with the cafe itself somehow, with characters arriving at the cafe
the episodes were very twilight zone type stuff, but with more scary and darker mood
i think stephen king might have been involved somehow but i'm not sure at all
it was a short series, like 3-5 episodes total
i'm pretty sure the 'cafe of broken dreams' special encounter in fallout 2 was inspired by this series
the last episode of quantum leap also had a similar "cafe outside of reality" thing
and i think i've seen this kind of thing also in another tv show
i really love the idea that there's a cafe for interdimensional travelers in multiple tv shows and videogames
and it's really nagging me that i can't remember what this show was
