Aliens: Colonial Marines (2013)

Description:

http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/games/aliens/

You and your friends against the deadliest killers in the galaxy. Another glorious day in the corps.

Buckle up, soldier! Welcome to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Created by Gearbox, the critically acclaimed and fan-favourite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy – the US Colonial Marines. It’s down to you to not just survive but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426. Players lead a group of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew. They will have to fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the universe. Aliens: Colonial Marines features authentic environments, such as the surface of LV-426 and Hadley's Hope, weapons inspired by the film series and is designed to provide an exhilarating and engaging new chapter in the Aliens universe.

Features:

* Bringing you a true sequel to James Cameron's classic Aliens, get tooled up with classic Marine weapons including pulse rifles, motion trackers and flamethrowers.

* Using authentic environments inspired by the film series including Hadley's Hope, the Sulaco and LV-426, you will be immersed in an eerie, atmospheric world where any moment could bring your death.

* The masters of co-op bring their expertise to the Aliens universe. Xenos getting too tough? Call up your buddies so they can drop in with extra firepower. The whole campaign can be played with a squad of up to four players, dropping in and out as necessary through self-contained missions within an over-arching narrative.

* Create your perfect killing machine. An extensive upgrade system allows players to customise their characters to play the way they want. Earn experience to get perks, new weapons and new looks for your squad.

I've heard this is going to be like L4Dead Aliens style, you can weld up doors and lay out machine guns.

Sounds good to me.

Better be good after 6 years, I certainly hope the single player experience is not compromised. I want something immersive like the first AVP games

L4d dead is an excellent series, aliens in the same mold would be brillant.

I think the AVP games are terrible, capture a comic book feel rather than the widescreens aliens.

I cant stand the AVP films either, I think they are childish at best.

WTF are you taking about chief? Of course the AVP films are garbage. The first two games on PC were classics at the time, and the only decent Aliens themed video games to date. As far as the films are concerned there are two, Scotts Alien and Camerons Aliens. The rest are aberrations. Much like your post Rolling Eyes

If you cant be bothered to follow the flow of the thread thats your problem.

Really do you seriously think that the pc games were that good?, I dont think they were, I just think they were novel, I there hasnt been any good AVP or alian games released. All of them have been more comic book dumb kids games, and dont even bother to capture the feel of the first two films, I think a L4D style game were you play marines would be great.

The third alien wasnt that bad, the fourth is a load of comic book nonsens a d bit like you post. Rolling Eyes

Up until now, I'd never heard ANYONE say the first two PC AvP titles weren't "good" -- so methinks you're just trolling. They're both universally acclaimed.

I dont like aliens and predators in the same title, its bullshit and crap.

The first three alien films were adult horror films, the predator series Rolling Eyes are dumbass gunho films for meat heads.

AVP = Fail.

They wasnt BAD as games, but they failed in terms of what they represented.

Aliens was a horror film? Scratch Head By its very definition, it was a gungho film for meat-heads "Oo~rah!" That doesn't diminish the levels of AWESOME that exuded, but to call it a horror? No. It was pure action and testosterone all throughout. Alien was a horror film. The first two AvP PC titles were fabulous and, like I said, you're the first person to complain about them.

Flow of the thread? Ok..... sorry for replying boss.

I must say though, your cryptic grammar, unchallenged intellect and superlative opinion has clearly won the day. Back to the comic books for me.... Sad

Well atleast you have learnt not to try and compete with your superior, if you come across any hard words in your comic book then let me know.

Let's pretend Alpha Protocol and Dungeon Siege 3 don't exist - and instead we get the cancelled Aliens CRPG from Obsidian.

Having just played DE:HR - you should be able to figure out why AP is such a travesty.

If not, I need only remind you of:

Boss fight with rockstar drug dealer.

End of line.

I have no problem with you disagreeing Smile

Happy for you, actually.

I bought that game expecting better from Obsidian, and was disgusted enough not to finish it.

To each his own, though.

I went into it expecting an Obsidian game; buggy, unoptimised, mess... with great gameplay, story, music and ideas. I came out satisfied =) I've finished it 3 times now, I just wish Obsidian would treat their fans better... the patches are laughable and there's no toolkit of any kind.

The bugs and crappy animations, I could live with.

The schizophrenic design decisions and dreary writing/characters, I could not.

It's like they wanted to appeal to an audience unfamiliar to them, and didn't have a unified vision to make that possible.

Still, I know the game has a lot of steadfast supporters. I can't really say I understand why, except that it must be down to good old differing tastes.
