Warlock's Gauntlet is an Open-Source community project, created by users from warsztat.gd - a Polish game development site known as Warsztat (the workshop). It's a dynamic, top-down shooter (well, spell-caster) game, placing you - the player - in the role of a battlemage. The hero travels through maps filled with monsters, gaining experience and learning new spells. The game is similar to titles like Gauntlet or Diablo. The game features 27 random-generated levels which should amount to about three hours of gameplay; the player character can find over 60 distinct spells. There is no networked multiplayer, but the game includes a hot-seat two-player mode. The game available entirely for free - the code is open source and the assets are licensed CC.

Edit: Ok, I honestly don't know what's with the versions, but apparently 1.0 is better (?) and it has the editor too. I really don't know, but 1.1 seems to be like some kind of demo, it doesn't have everything. I'm confused.

They both work here. Go to the downloads tab on the ModDB page if it doesn't work like this for you, though those are exactly the same links.

Edit: Ok, I replaced the links with the ones from Game Front.

Looks interesting enough to try. Thanks for heads up. Also you are right, the 1.1 version is smaller in size. hmmmm....

They've castrated some of the game's features in order to appeal to a broader audience thus the shrunk-down size.

Yeah, it also doesn't have the spell tree from the 1.0 version. In 1.1 you only have 4 slots for spells that you pick up + 6 skills. There's also no tutorial and you start somewhere else. It's really weird, since version 1.1 has been released just yesterday I think, yet on the ModDB page it says version 1.0 is the final version of the game and it was released in january.

Neat, but too short. And the bosses are too easy. I killed the last boss in a 3 spell casts.

I didn't play much, but it is a free little game... Also, there are difficulty levels in the 1.0 version, so maybe crank up the difficulty a bit? Or did you play on the hardest difficulty?
