|
 |
I am getting a gamepad this Christmas, mainly so I can finally play Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on my PC. But I was wondering if there are any other great games that can be played with a gamepad? Shame, shame. Would be pretty l33t. I already bought THPS: Underground 2
Anyways, could you help? Thank you!
Also, although not related to PC in anyway, I'm thinking about buying an xbox, are they any good? Is fable sweet?

regarding gamepad games: i would suggest the EA sports games if you are into sports and what not. I like playing racing games with a gamepad so flat out or NFSU2.

Flatout, good one. I don't like NFSU2 much, I'm not into tuning.

NFSU2 is absolutely great with an analog gamepad, while NBA LIVE 2005 is a totally different game..
I've been using the keyboard since nba 1997 but this year it has been the time to switch... and the game experience was really improved

If your going to get a gamepad, i would highly recommend gettin a ps2 gamepad and a ps2-usb convertor. My experience with pc gamepads like the gravis is they are far inferior to the sturdy and feel good in the hand type of pad like the sony controller.

Nah, it's a horrible little thing, OK for kids maybe but useless if you've got decent sized hands. I've got a Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Analog 2 gamepad and it's much better than the ghastly Sony object. It's also better built and has a really nice matt feel to it.
Incidentally, Praetori, you don't have to do any tuning in NFSU2, it's optional. NFSU is a better game in many ways though.
A gamepad is also great for the driving and flying parts in GTA games. And don't forget Midnight Club 2 which is much better than either NFSU game.

if you are getting an xbox and maybe an extra controller you might check out XBCD at http://www.redcl0ud.com/. the xbox controller can be wired to be USB and still work on the xbox with some quick wiring--it is all described on the forum on that website. anyways rumble works pretty good using those drivers in most games and the xbox controller is about the best gamepad ive used so its a good multipurpose solution, provided you have basic electrical know-how.

xbox-s controller, self-wired into a USB extension port on my mobo.
cheap, effective, and works better than some of the $50+ controllers on the market.
As for those who prefer PC controllers to console controllers, the consoles are better. Reason: the gamepad is the main method of input on the consoles, whereas the PC controller is a niche market. This motivates Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to design good controllers. That, in turn, motivates other companies to produce quality controllers of their own. Result - price war between original manufacturers and third-party companies. We win here. For less than $35 you can pick up a brand-new XBOX-S controller. Compare THAT to the mediocre $50 PC gamepads, and you'll see my point.
Large hands? No problem. The original XBOX controller is cheap enough and provides great performance, and it's apparent Microsoft's R&D department tested it on Bigfoot, so there shouldn't be any size issues.

If u want to play PES4 u need to have one, also THUG2, and u can play 3rd person games with that also, like the prince of persia games, and don't forget the EA series (nba, nhl and fifa).

Another vote on Prince of Persia: Warrior within, and Flat out. I don't like NFSU 2 at all.

actually, that's not true at all... I was able to get a wireless logitech gamepad for my pc below $35 last year. Don't remember the exact price, but I think it was around $25

meh I just bought a ps2 look a-like game pad from Logitech and what better game to test it on but metal gear solid 2 substance works great!
How is mafia on a gamepad?

I know this post is about 3 weeks old, but I thought I'd add a comment to this. I have a PS2 to USB converter. Worked great, except for one thing. Pushing diagonally, would not give me full X and Y, it would give me almost, but not full, which affected my player's run speed in Madden 2005. Took me awhile to figure this one out, finally caved and bought the Logitech Rumblepad 2, which is JUST like a PS2 controller. I am very happy with this purchase, as now I have full X+Y when I push diagonally. Also, for those interested, you can push in on the analog sticks and they will be buttons also, just like the ps2 controller. This is a great controller for the pc, if anyone is in the market, and only 30 bucks to boot.
