Hi..

in the UK, we have TV channels which do use advertsing, just like the USA (United states of Advertising...freedom of speech if you got the money)

One of the Adverts i hate most dearly is by a company called 'Dragon publishing' - they profer a magazine serial where by the topic of interest is split over a number of weeks...(usually including a great gift, broken down into parts spread across the weeks) - starting prices are great...then the second edition go's to extortionate levels...

"Into trians? gets this fully working model steam train when you buy all the editions of 'Trains.wow.they.go.chuff.chuff' edition one only 99p"

after you've bought all 30 editions, the complete price of the woefully underpowered and non-functional 'train' - 'remote-control-car' or whatever costs you on average of £200....farking ripp off... but someones smiling!

I see these adverts all the time, what a con... "Build A Fully Working Nuke In Just 30 Weeks, Starting Price Only 99p"

Then it has the tiny little disclaimer at the bottom which goes something like:

*regular price £4.99, nuke cannot reach America.

Pfft, bloody useless con.

My favourite one at the moment is for the remote control car.

First issue, 99p. Runs for 70 issues, the rest of them being £6.99. On top of that, it says you have to pay £44.99 extra for the remote control unit.

Total price of remote control car: £528.29.

You can probably get the exact same car pre-built for less than £100, it doesn't look all that special.

Are you guys naturally idiots or do you have to work at it?

Obviously they have to have a cut price first issue to allow people to sample the magazine and decide whether they like it. No-one is going to buy a £7 magazine if they're not sure they'll like it.

This isn't even business, it's just common sense.

hmmmm the worst advert i see at the moment is the ship one. im not sure how expensive it is but the ship is made outta small pices of cheap wood that look like lollie sticks. also if you get 5 pieces each week its hardly gonna be a week long hobby putting them together ud just have to store them all. i dont know any1 who's collected a whole magazine set like that and built the model.
