Quote:
Zombie Panic source is a slow paced, hardcore zombie survival FPS.

Two teams (Zombies and Survivors), both played by gamers, fight against each other to survive.

Humans are faster, have access to various guns, grenades and melee weapons but are pretty fast when fully equipped. And they are greater in numbers. At least at the beginning of the round. Humans become zombies when they die.

Zombies have regenerating health, strong melee attacks, can infect and see the humans glowing red when they are too exhausted from running away or camping in a corner. Also they can respawn when they are dead and are strong enough to push the heaviest objects.

Gameplay is round based. When a around starts people may choose if they want to start as zombies or survivors. As most people want to be in the survivor team, the server will randomly chose up to 3 players to be zombies from the beginning. Players who willingly chose the zombie team might spawn as whities, a much stronger and more resistant zombie that can infect survivors.

There are basically two game modes. Survival and objective based gameplay.

Survival mode as Human
Find guns and ammunition, strengthen doors and windows by pushing various furniture in front of it or nail them up with wood. Try to stay alive until the time is up or kill as long zombies until all their respawns are used up.

Survival mode as Zombie
Break in through windows, tear down doors and destroy barricades. Ofc don't forget to feed on brains. If you are whitie then it is up to you to infect the survivors. A single blow might be enough to get the virus into a single person in the group. The infected won't know it immediately... but after a short period of time he will witness the changes. His vision will get blurry and sounds distort until he can no longer resist the dark side. There is no cure for an infected. Thus he will stay behind his team mates, so that he can attack them when they expect it least..."At least let me drag some with me together to hell..."

And then there is the objective based mode, where survivors walk through big levels, try to stay together and trigger various events (searching keycards, hacking computer terminals, defend specific spots for short amounts of time and most importantly GET TO DA CHOPPA.

System requirements:
Any machine that can run Half Life 2...

I can't understand why nobody ever created a topic for this game... it clearly deserves one despite being "just a mod".

It has great atmosphere and if you like the zombie genre it's basically a must Smile And sometimes it's just really really scary when you are a single survivor in a small cabin and you hear that all the other survivors are slaughtered outside and that you still need to survive another 90 seconds until help arrives Laughing

Actually I'm not sure if it's 2009 or maybe even 2008. This game started as Zombie Panic, a modification for half life. They later on ported the game to the source engine, but I don't have a date on that Smile

Great mod. Definitely worth checking out. I think some of the guys that made this mod are now making No More Room In Hell, another awesome looking mod.
