No because that's the point of the whole idea?

Guys... if they did that, then it means you can't ever play the game over again. I'm going to wait for confirmation on this, because I think wires are crossed somewhere. Twatcom are grade A douchelords, but not to this degree. One-time-use games? No, just no.

ORIGINAL STORY: It is impossible to delete save data from upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, according to a new report.
Eurogamer.net
I've understood it that the game is meant to be played only once and after that you can throw it away.

Delete save, yes, re-use it? No. Like I said... £35++ for a game you can only play ONCE? No! It's NOT possible, it simply cannot be, Capcom would be sued out of existence. Can you image the lawsuits from angry customers and parents? Paying £35++ for a game that cannot be played again over again?
I'm sure something is missing here.

No it's pretty easy. You play this game and it unlocks shit. So when you finished the game, everything is unlocked and you can replay it any time you want. But you can't reset the data so that everything is locked again. If you sell it, the next one already has everything unlocked and not the experience of a "fresh" game...
At least that's what I understand of these tiny bits of information BTW how do they want to prevent that from happening? Modifying the gamecartridge itself?!

it could be that unlocks and whatever will remain permanently unlocked or whatever... you should be able to start a new game, but it wouldnt be from scratch...
thats the only thing that makes sense to me, because a game you can never play more than once is a sure way to alienate every single fan you have, and ensure your game bombs epicly.

oh goddammit... yeah what he said.

It's just more typical Capcom shite, to be honest.
@me7
Yes, for now. How long till this nonsense is part of every Capcom game?

They're defending the action on Twitter, using much the same reasoning as me7; it's only a time-attack game. Meh. I still see this becoming "the norm" on Crapcom's 3DS titles.

I think they are just testing gamers how far they can go.

And I really hope they fall flat on their face with that.
I realize that pre owned games are a thorn in the publisher's side but if we look at it, it's pretty likely that someone who buys a game pre-owned is not gonna buy it for full price.
Otherwise he wouldn't be looking for pre-owned games.
So he/she might pick up the game new at some point when the price dropped significantly.
Ok, yes, that's profit for the publisher but honestly, I don't believe that there's a point in their calculations "number of games sold that were released over 4-6 months ago and dropped to 50% price".
And with dropped prices comes lower profit.
It's obvious that they wanna try to push retail sales with that but again, somebody who's gonna buy a pre-owned game probably wouldn't have bought it at launch price anyway.

False alarm guys, put those torches and pitchforks aside cause
