i can't login to steam anymore, apparently they took down my account because i did something against their rules.

i had almost a dozen of games, all legitimately bought except for one, for which i bought its key through a private vendor on internet. Also, i believe that was no infrigment at all since that key was from a product sold in russia or something.

they take your account over only for one non-legal key? that's pretty sad. i'm trying to contact them but you've got to have a steam account which i don't hold anymmore.

any suggestions?

Why don't you make another one and contact them through it?

P.S. I don't think the account has been deleted, it was most probably just blocked for the time being...

It's always safe to create a new account for the games activated with cheap keys, but yeah, as garus said it's strange that the whole account has been frozen...try to contact the Steam Support and good luck! Razz

(don't tell them the truth ofc Laughing)

The reason is probably something else, they don't ban complete accounts for one fishy key. Just contact their support and ask what's going on.

I'm with Mister_s on this; Valve generally don't ban your entire account just for one fell-off-the-back-of-a-lorry key, they usually just remove the infringing game. Account bans are more likely for piracy or fraud.

You don't, I'm talking about using hacked Steam clients to try and download legit games. Either using your real account, or using a fake account on the same IP as your real one. That shit is bound to red flag you at Valve.

They don't ban you completely for a dodgy key, friend of mine has had 3 of his games removed due to fishy keys, but the rest of his account is still fine Smile

What if OP actually pirated 12 games and when he finally bought first legit game, Steam thought "oh what the hell, let's just ban him for zeh lulz?"

They normally send e-mails and such as well explaining why don't they?
(Does the log-in screen say anything specific?)
