Hi folks, first post and I just read this wonderful bit of prose from EA Sports vice president Andrew Wilson...

"If we look at what consumers have pushed other industries for, if we look at what consumers forced the music industry to provide, if we look at what consumers have driven as a result of television and movie subscription, if you look at us - there's absolutely a time somewhere at some point in the future where the consumers say, 'Hey, this is how we want to interact with you - we want to give you a monthly or annual subscription and we want access to everything you make,'" Wilson told Eurogamer.

"They get to drive the time and place for it, and a lot of it is technology dependent, but absolutely we can see a future where that might be the way we deliver games."

It's always been in the making this for gaming due to the sheer amount of people gaming these days.
Just hope they don't go too far and price everyone out of it.
I certainly don't wanna pay full price for a game then not say have access to online play because i ain't paid 20 pounds a fucking month.
FUCK THAT.

Sub-model for everything?

Does that include sub-par quality also? Razz
(Sub-par support?)

EDIT: Then again some titles sort-of use this already or microtransaction offers like pre-order deals and in-game stores like how Sims gets new content via that online store yet still expansions and even these weird retail mini-expansion themed item packs.
(Then again Sims 4 base with kitchen and bathroom areas sold separately seems like a possible follow up to this model with different toilet roll colors and kitchen utensil brands also sold separately via that online store.)

It seems a lot of companies are starting this trend of mandatory and/or misleading automatic monthly subscriptions now with no choices.Xbox does it and they have removed your ability to cancel it yourself on their site and through the dashboard.Pain in the ass to speak to their aggressive reps on phone to.Almost have to get red in the face for them to cancel it.

Same goes for fileserve and other similar services. Many of them are embarking on borderline fraud and theft by hiding the fact that they automatically sign you up for monthly charges and make it damn near impossible to remove it short of cancelling your credit card and getting a new one.Was only a matter of time before other companies followed suit.I hope to see some legal action taken against this practice as I don't know anyone that supports it.
