So anyone waiting for this? It shuld be out either later today or tomorrow.
I have been waiting for this game ever since suikoden 2 since Suikoden 3 turned out to be a major crap game. It's sad that part 3 is part of the suikoden series when suikoden 1 and 2 are such masterpieces. :/
part 4 seems to be more like the earlier suikoden games. Fighting have the traditional style (much like suikoden 1) and we got the world map again (big yay for that). This is one of the most awaited games this year for me, I'm a sucker for console rpg's.

I'm checking every 30min to see if it has pred Laughing

I really enjoyed the first one, but I didn't really play much of the second.

I loved the way you could build up your castle, from a few ruined rooms into a huge fortress with loads of people and services.

Played them all except this one, but it seems that this follow's in #3's footsteps and once again we have lackluster characters and storyline.

I absolutely loved 1 and 2, still have the original case, manual and cd's for them, truly classic games.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RPG GENRE, where are those memorable characters and moving, inspirational storylines...I'm tired of saving the world from the imminent evil, why cant anyone create something unique anymore Sad

It's getting terrible reviews thus far. Has like an average ranking of 62% over at Gamerankings...

I loved 1 and 2, 2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. 3 was ok, nothing special, I thought the "trinity" system kind of ruined it. I was hyped about 4 until I saw the reviews, I'll definitely give it a go though. Hopefully we'll get a release today.

I dont go by the ratings on this one. Afterall, ign gave suikoden 3 9.4 and praised it as the best rpg 2004. And on gamerankings it has an average of 88%. I personally thought it was one of the worst rpg's I have ever played.
So I have very high hopes for this since those that loved part3 seems to think this is worse, great for me Smile

I guess Suikoden 4 is a prequel and the story takes place ~1 hundred years before the 1st game.

I love RPG's and have been gagging for a good one since Morrowind..

However ive never played any of this series

is it the typical annoying Jap RPG with chars with overly large eyes and huge mouths? with stupid spiky blue hair?
and turnbased combat?

Not that ive got any thing against Jap RPG's but they are just not my taste and ive never found one i liked yet.

Ok I have played it for awhile now and so far it's ALOT better (and I mean ALOT) than part 3 in my opinion and I really enjoy it. The fighting system is excellent. It's fast and very classic. It works almost exactly as in part 1 and 2, brilliant.
Sea battles are also very fun. Maybe the best war game so far in a suikoden game.
Cant say much about the story but if there is just some sort of story I know I will enjoy this alot. Thank god that we didn't get another shitty suikoden 3 Smile
And as I thought, what reviewers think is not even close to what I think.

It's not in the same class as part 1 and 2 but those are 2 of the best rpg's ever created, so beeing in their class is not that easy.

Reg67: Yes it's your normal rpg so if your not into such games I suggest you stay away from this Smile

To me a normal RPG is games like:

Morrowind,fallout series, baldurs gate etc..

So assume this is exactly the sort i described in my first post?

Morrowind and those you say are what i call, pc rpg's. A console rpg is totally different. Final fantasy and games like that are console rpg's.
So yes it's exactly what you desribed in your first post Smile Although not every console rpg have the japanese characters, but they do have the turn based combat and all the other common console rpg things.

Laughing I decided to stop being a lazy bastard and had a good look at the reviews, vids and screens.. gotta admit it looks pretty good..

After viewing the screens, didnt see a girl who looked about 12 with eyes the size of dinner plates on any of them! HURRAH!! Very Happy

Hehe, like I said. Not all console rpg's have japanese characters Smile
Maybe you will enjoy the turnbased fighting system now then when you wont have to deal with the japanese big eyed characters.

I have already played almost 3h and I was just going to test it since I'm currently playing another game. Thats how good I think this is Smile
