Wow that's a lot
dingo_d has the same RAM Module but in 1333 MHz, how come the differences are so big ?

Higher clock, 8GB instead of 4GB, better quality? Better processor, dunno :\

Ehm how does this determine the fastest RAM? Sorry, this method determines the fastest combination of CPU/RAM & MAINBOARD.
If you want to actually get the fastest RAM look out for reviews were all modules are tested in the exactly same machine with same cpu & mobo...

And RAM speeds are pointless anyway unless you give a fuck about synthetic benchmarks

My advice is to buy the cheapest Ram possible.
You won`t notice nay difference (well in benchmarks only). You don`t need any "dual channel kits" - it`s all voodoo.
What Werelds said is all you need to know about ram.
For the price of the Ram you posted, you can get 8 GB of Ram (at least where I live).
Edit:
If 4 GB is enough and you NEED 1600MHz these will do:
http://www.pcgarage.ro/memorii/sycron/2gb-ddr3-1600mhz-cl9/
if 1333 is enough take a look:

Dingo_d: What the hell...? Why the crappy timings??
9-12-12-30 CR2? Those timings definitely impact performance. You should run those @ 9-9-9-24 CR1 without a problem.

Well I thought about changing that, but I was always kinda afraid I'd mess sth up
I'll try to see how easily I can change that in bios, it shouldn't be a problem, right?
P.S. if my comp suddenly blows up I'm holding you responsible Frant

What is the exact model of your RAM, dingo? Why don't you check on either your box or in the site of Corsair what set of timings is exactly recommended?

Everything was set on Auto in BIOS, I changed it but I dk what to do with tRC timings (it's still 34 clocks), and I couldn't find how to change CR to CR1 in bios :\
the results now are:
The change is minute. I'll update my bios (current is v. 1.4, to 1.7 and see if sth new will pop up for timings)...

It's not called CR1/CR2 in any BIOS I've seen, no idea what AIDA64 is using that term. It differs from different BIOSes, but you'll be looking for one of these...
1T/2T Memory Timing
DRAM Command Rate (1T or 2T)
Command Rate
Active_to_CMD(Trcd)
Trcd
Command per Clock (CMD)
It will say Auto or 2T. Set it to 1T.

Yeah, I realized that it's T1/T2
I updated my bios and new options were shown so I set the things as you recommended, and now the results are:
Altho I really cannot say I feel any noticeable difference (a 2 ns boost woohoo xD)

Oh and I have set my ram @dual channel, I know how to read manual

Not sure if you still need the help, but here's mine...
Corsair Dominator memory, btw.
edit: And I'm running 12Gb of it as well, if that makes any difference.

And this is why I want a sandybridge cpu...

Well, performance made a jump but I suspect your motherboard/CPU just isn't up to it. After all, you're running a low-budget CPU and I doubt the on-CPU memory controllers are working particularly fast. You don't even have L3-cache on that chip. A new CPU might be a good idea, esp. since AMD Phenom II quad-cores are so cheap. You've got an AM3-board which means you could even pick a 6-core Phenom II.
Or you start overclocking that bitch, running your stuff stock is just silly, I haven't run stock since 1997. |
I was looking at 6 core Phenoms but the price is still to high for my non existent budget xD
First I need to get me some more space (I need new HD), and then I'll consider buying new proc.
But the great thing is that I really can upgrade without changing the MBO, which is a major plus

I personally don't have the time nor the nerves to do overclocking now and the eventual stress-testing afterwards. Moreover, the CPU is really powerful enough the way it is now.

That's not the point. The point is that you have all this untapped performance/power that is just sitting there being wasted.
