In an effort to save civilization, "Arks" are constructed and buried deep underground. These cryogenic lifeboats carry humanity's future, preserved with the tools they need to rebuild. But when survivors begin to emerge, they find the unexpected. Many humans who were above ground during the impact unexpectedly survived, while horrific mutants roam the dead cities. Release is only round the corner, 4th and 7th October. Been waiting for this one for some time now, but it's install will seriously butthurt some folk..!
8gb install on the PS3
22gb!! install on the 360 along with three disc's.
I don't get it tho... Carmak says you can either play from dvd or install the whole game to HD, but since the 360 doesn't have 3 dvd drives last time I checked, why the hell can't it play from an HD install of disc 1 but it can play straight from disc 1? Makes no sense at all imho...
common files installed on hdd... specific level files installed on the 3 discs. you will have to swap discs after several levels. never seen this before? we are going back to the ps1 days
praise the lord for hacked consoles with external hdd's
Don't have a modded console, so this game will be skipped by me. I already have to pay for BF3, SR3, and possibly Arkham City. Dunno about this one. The lack of a full co-op experience is just unforgiveable!

Still doesn't make sense, if the game can run straight from dvd without install, there's no reason it can't run from a copy of such dvd installed on HDD. And when it's time to swap, you can always install dvd2 at that point. L.A.Noire and all other multi-disc titles work like this, can't see how this is different.
Honestly mate, I'm surprised games have stayed in the 10GB range for so long. Visuals keep getting better all the time, for the most part, yet there are very few titles that are larger than 10GB.
Well, I actually searched for the original story, and it has been badly reported, the 3-discs-or-nothing claim is bullshit, it will be like every other 360 multi disc game. From original interview:
Quote:
Digital Foundry: Did you settle on two or three discs in the end for 360?
Tim Willits: Three discs. We recommend installing the game to the hard drive, but you don't need to install all three discs. If you don't have the space available on your hard drive, don't stress. Install the first disc, the first chapter, the first half of the game, then when you're done, uninstall and install disc two.
Digital Foundry: So there's a specific cut-off in the story? There's no need to disc-swap after passing that point?
Tim Willits: No, you can go back if you want to but there's really no reason to. You don't really need to install the multiplayer disc if you're really tight on hard disk space.
Also, Willits says disc 3 is for multiplayer, and you don't have to use it for the main campaign.

length of the game gets shorter while the visuals get better
