Viktor’s story begins in Eos, a world divided by two realms: the Overworld and the Netherworld. The fragile balance between these two realms is suddenly shattered when Mephistopheles, the power-hungry leader of the Netherworld, lays siege to Overworld. After suffering betrayal within the legion, Zane, the leader of the Overworld, must turn to Viktor as his last hope.
Viktor is an action-packed, 2D side-scrolling adventure with gameplay inspired by classics such as Castlevania and Megaman. Playing as Viktor, you’ll fight your way through a diverse spectrum of hostile environments where you’ll encounter a wide variety of relentless enemies, lurking traps, and fearsome bosses who will try to keep you from your mission: finding Zane, defeating the merciless Mephistopheles, and restoring peace to Eos..

I found an old demo from 2013 that was for some reason removed from the main site. Whatever.
I expected it to be actually old, but a quick comparison against some videos I googled out shows that haven't much changed since then. Absolutely the same boring and uninspiring level design, weird gameplay mechanics that not just feel rather raw and unpolished (demo issues?) but simply lack in concept. There is nothing that stands out in it, it just a very basic setup for platformer. Same applies to the story and soundtrack - it just rather bland and... mediocre. That's the word, probably.
My first thought was "rather sloppy debut that didn't turn out well in the end". However, it wasn't the first game from Shorebound Studios . They were the guys who made Spectraball and Dead Sky, and according to the reviews of these two - they are pretty much just like Viktor. "Mediocre".
It is not necessarily a bad thing, of course, but I'd strongly advise to get this game only when it is 75% OFF or higher. And even when you get it for 1-2 bucks you probably will never play it anyway.
After playing it a bit more, I kinda agree with you.
The game feel bland and empty. Enemies are certainly the weak point, they all repeat themselves in every stage -sometimes adding some new ones- and they are way too easy to kill.
Controls are fine unless you play on a a big monitor -like my 30"- or tv. You want to point in the direction you have to teleport in, and moving the mouse to the opposite side of the screen sometimes can be difficult if you dont use high sensitivity, and if you do, you lack the accuracy when jumping into platforms.
Aside from the first stage, the music is not really that bad, sort of a mix between megaman and king of fighters, sort of
It´s still a somewhat decent time waster if you like 2d games which require some sort of skill or reflexes, with bosses being the definitely the strong point, other than that it´s pretty shallow and generic.

I use very high sensitivity, so I might have sucked a little
