Sorry if its covered elsewhere, I can't find it.

I've just ordered the Icarus Effect but while I'm at it I might order some more gaming related books. Are any others worth it that pay decent homage to good games?

The Witcher saga?

Though the game was based on the books, not the other way around.

The Lone Wolf series by Joe Dever.

These are actually choose your own adventure books where you create your character, manage inventory, fight via random num generator. Good stuff.

What's more, they've all been digitized, and are available to read/play for free, with full permission of the author.

I grew up with these books, and they are a large part of what got me in to gaming in the first place!

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

The starting few chapters are a bit meandering but the book picks up after about 50 or so pages. There is also a shout out to HR.

1 and 2 are still amazing.

The Rise and Fall of Nintendo - it covers up to the PS1 era, but don't let that put you off; it's one of the VERY best gaming-related books I've ever read. Oh and it's not some Nintendo fanboy gushing, it's very neutral and exceptionally well written. To the UK guys here; the videogaming magazine "ARCADE" once gave away a "small" (lol...) excerpt of the book as their front cover gift ... and even that was almost 100 pages Very Happy

The Dresden Files. Because I think there's a game coming out set in that universe.

But I'd stay far away from these. Quality of them is even below regular Dan Brown garbage.

If you are a fan of Elder Scrolls series then you should try The Infernal City.

My friend read it and he said it was pretty good,
however he also added that its quite hard for TES newbies(who dont follow lore very closely; minister of truth, clavicus vile, umbra).
