Posted: Fri, 27th Aug 2010 07:30 Post subject: Metro 2033 (both Skidrow and Razor releases tried) |
|
 |
Just tried both releases, along with all the instructions in the nfo clearly (including the patch from skidrow on their own release), but still end up with
"Metro 2033 executable has stopped working" error.
I am running Win7-Ultimate(x64) on a X6 CPU with 4gig ram, and Gtx470 w/1.2 gig vram.
Dx, PhysX, runtime library all installed accordingly but no use.
Any suggestions from the pro will be greatly apprecitated?

Razor didn't work for me but Skidrow + their patch worked as a charm... hmmm... You tried new graphic drivers?

"...has stopped working". A fucking evolution of user friendly. At least in XP you'd get some random error number you could look up..
Type "eventvwr.msc" into run (Win+R), go to "Application" node, find the Metro 2033 entry (Should be marked with an error or warning icon in the list), double-click the entry then copy and paste the text from "Description" box here and maybe you can be helped.

@Frant, that'll be like putting a heavy load on the system even if it worked. wouldn't it?

No. Metro 2033 doesn't need more than 2-3 cores.

content.upk0 is the main patch archive and should not be deleted, unsure why some people get this issue, maybe something with a specific release but deleting patched data should be kept as a last resort.
(Release update or Content0 is mainly optimization work with 4xAA under DX10 and DX11 with depth of field on as far as I could see after unpacking it plus some smaller fixes in various other data but hard to say anything specific.)

It's a global issue with that file. Google the start up crash for metro, it all points to deleting content.upk0 and it works like a charm.

I didn't delete it, just the update+crack and it worked like a charm...

What OS are you using ? You should cut down some settings to improv performance of the game, so you can run it on native res.
It will look better even ...

I'm running Windows XP 32 bit Pro and I have never had a game doing this crap on me. Actually I'm pretty happy with the performance I get @1440X900, but can you recommend something that can be turned off in the config file?
I have tried to find SSAO and turn it off, but I can't.

I don't have the game installed, play around a little, use fraps to see the difference.

Back when I was on XP the rearrangement would happen to me if I had different resolution in game from my monitor... The solution? Get Win7

Has anyone completed dry station where bourbon get captured? it seems to be a bug in the game the skidrow release anyway.. I cant use my weapons... I have tried what other websites are saying about reloading from the main menu but that doesnt work either.. I have used the skidrow patch as well before I started to play the game
