gutted, my battlefield 3 disc has a small deep scratch from the centre of the disc. it had to be the multiplayer disc too
multiplayer still works but i think it is because i have copied the game to the hdd, so the xbox 360 is detecting the disc but then allowing the game to run off the hdd
i want to see if the whole disc is ok, what is the best way to do this
i don't have another xbox to try and i daren't touch the hdd install
is there an option to play the game off the disc to see or even better a program on the pc to scan the disc to verify it works or possible rip the whole disc just to see if it fails?
Remove the HDD and run the game, it will run from the disc. You could also remove the HDD and try installing it on a usb stick/external HDD with an appropriate x360 partition on it.
Note that in both cases you will need a mem card/ usb stick or some other storage to transfer you profile and saves; you need your gold profile to play online. Though I'd suggest removing the HDD and instaling to usb drive/ext HDD more, as it seems like a better test for reading the entire disc.
I have had games that run fine of disc but won't install due to reading errors, so yeah, go with the install method to be 100% sure.
