I know professors don't give a single fuck about anything and works must be completed on time but...We have class that meets Mondays for 2.5hrs..class meets once a week btw

So at the end of the class, he said, he will email us the homework numbers from the book plus some additional problems...I think great, I will do them over the weekend...

but no...he decides to send it 2 hours before class starts..and its gazillions of problems

STUDENTS HAVE LIFES TOO..I'm not going to press F5 school email website for 24hrs to see if the guy sent the homework

life of a student is so hard and dramatic..and to think its college where ITS SERIOUS BUSINESS. Where not a single fuck is given each day

Don't do it! Its just a test to see how gullible you are. anyone who completes this has to clean up all the vomit in student accomodation for a year and a day.

University is a collection of colleges (or facultys as they're sometimes called). There are other meanings but I think this is the most commonly used one.

Although there are no relevant differences as far as this thread is concerned, so I don't see a reason to point it out.

In USA, a college and university are same thing except for state funding.
My college had College in name, meaning it did not receive state funding.
They wanted to get state funding, so they changing the name from college to University!
Yeah - free money. That is only difference- money game.

I can count the number of professors I've had in my educational career that both actually gave a damn, and had a passion and gift for teaching, on less then a hand - 3. While the rest may have had the proper credentials, they were far from what I would consider "teachers".

I took a required summer management course once - 3 hour classes held twice a week. The professor turned out to be your typical managerial douche-bag, completely disconnected from reality and without a shred of human decency left within his soul. About the second class in he hit us with this pearl of wisdom....

"I won't be discussing the contents in chapters 2 - 6, but be sure to read that as that's what will be on your first exam. Instead, I'd like to take this class to discuss <insert random bullshit topic with no real world (or exam) relevance>...."

The collective anger/rage/frustration that welled up in the room in that moment was so thick you could cut it with a fucking knife! Very Happy Those were the longest 3 hour days of my life.

I can also confidently say that not a single thing he discussed that entire semester had any relevance whatsoever to the content on the exams. I, and everyone else in that class, basically paid tuition to go home and read the book to ourselves, something we could have done for free.

My views on teaching are the same as those on parenting - just because almost anyone can be one, doesn't mean they should. In fact, most shouldn't. It's a serious position that requires not only knowledge, but dedication, empathy, and the skill to convey that knowledge. Too many professors today simply half-ass it. Fact.

^ Something like this. But pretty much in America, everyone says college, no one say University.

Yep, we have the same problem here. There are some professors that you'd take the course twice just to hear him give lectures. I had this totally wacky TA two years ago, he's in his 30s so we are really on a friendly basis with him, he used to throw in random and funny stuff in his lectures, like something about old movies, or vanilla ice xD And that made the lectures so easy, we learned stuff, but had fun. Very Happy

I'll always remember, we had like final assignment that we needed to do on the class, and we all start working, and all of the sudden you hear from his laptop: vanilla ice ice baby... xD We all started laughing, it was too good.

And some professors are so boring that you struggle keeping your head up...

Usually the young TA or professors are more relaxed and know that the new generation differs greatly from the older ones...
