|

Is it possible for Premiere Pro, when exporting and queueing up to instead of starting and queueing up on a local Media Encoder, to do it on a remote via lan?
As i basically want my second pc to automaticly start encoding once i finished editing on my main pc.
Media encoder does have the option to "Watch folder", but i tried putting a project file in there and nothing happend, only started encoding automaticly once there was a media file in there.
What i need is basically, edit on my pc, export and automatic encode on another.
Is this doable?

sounds like a wild feature to have
i haven't used premiere nor mediaencoder much, but it sounds like a bad idea to me
you would have to transfer the full res uncompressed video over lan for processing
is there a reason not to do it on one machine?
like if you want your workstation to be freed up, run premiere on the render machine and encode it there entirely
i don't know how adobe software communicate between eachother, but if they are with tcp (doubtful), you could draw a tunnel between them
or, i don't know if premiere supports this, but you could export as image sequence and then encode that to video
i doubt media encoder supports sequences so you would have to frameserve it

I dont know what era you live in, but i live in the gigabit lan era, uncompressed files are transfered in matter of seconds...
But it seems you didnt get the right idea of me anyway, Premiere can export the clip made DIRECTLY to encoder, so it should be possible to instead of letting it go to the local encoder, make it go to external one.
Cuz my fraps records anyway directly to my second pc over lan.
So all files are there, just my other pc is a hassle to work with as it only has 4gb ddr2 ram

yea but premiere using the encoder directly probably use direct methods that are not networkable
forgot about this one earlier;
http://www.debugmode.com/frameserver/
premiere frameserver with network support
worth a try i think
