1. Stealing is WAY to easy (I can steal stuff from right under their nose if I stand behind them), also for real easy stealing, just put baskets or buckets over some guards head and tada hes blind, steal away ...
2. I did expect a tad more from the graphics There are a lot of muddy textures .. water flows weird as well (its like it flows in just one direction and doesn't care if the river changes course), obvious breaklines etc...
3. The UI ... Oh my where to start .. I still haven't found out how to see my character face on to see my gear except wait for a few minutes to start auto rotating ... also its hard to compare stats on loot vs equiped ... I want to see more then just "armor rating differences"... oh and I have issues using the hotkeys I want a setup with sword in left hand and magic in right .. but no matter what I do, the game brings the sword in the right hand and magic in left if I use the hotkeys for them...
I see they played Gothic 2 based on the interactions and people "acitivty".. its not as good as in Gothic 2 though But it's a marked improvement over Morrowind (which in my eyes is still a better game then Skyrim) (seen it it's own timeframe ofcourse)
Oh and what's up with the sound ? I have to crank my window mixer sound high up to get the volume I normally have in other programs, which is annoying as I then have to turn it back down to get the right volume in other games ...
Oh Oh one more thing, I have 2 identical ati 6800's in crossfire.. and crossfire performance is REALLY bad, I had like 15-20 fps with crossfire on... I do nothing except disable crossfire and tada, smooth as silk 60 fps.... I can't believe so many companies do buggy multi gpu games.. I know its for a smaller part of the gaming market but still .... guess Ill be waiting for CAP5 or a driver update or a patch from Bethesda itself ...
In short, all this game needs is some higher quality textures, better water sharders or whatever it is, a UI mod, a patch for the sound and crossfire.. oh and a fix for the stealing, because even if you don't want to mess around with buckets, you can actually still just use hold enter to move (not take) the "to steal" object to a place where noone is looking basement or second floor or whatever.. and steal it there .... that's right, the npc's don't care at all if you move objects labelled red... I can swear in oblivion they considered "moving a non takeable object" as stealing...
Nonsense! How about fix the more important things first like.. COMBAT !!! If this had the combat system of demon souls it would have been the best game ever
For stealing I'm highly impressed NPC actually try to see the player rather than randomly detecting him, this can be exploited though by deliberately blocking AI vision but obviously you'd close the door to the room you're looting and that with the bucket while a bit of a oversight was very clever though unfortunate, physics improved nicely over Oblivion but they should have had objects sliding off NPC's as it used to.
(Well since the bucket does have a realistic collision map it would likely still stuck like it does now though.)
I'm more annoyed by the random items that can be stolen without consequence, mostly using the Dragons Reach lodge in that middle city (Whiterun? Winterhold?) every single object can be stolen as long as it's not a equipment item, books, loot (goblets and everything.) basically whatever it is the player can't use directly can be stolen (And often many objects the player can use.) without consequence, even many doors and locks are available for exploration or picking without the guards doing much of anything, only area that this wasn't used in was the guard barracks and jail which had all items owned by others.
(Also a nice improvement that you can set individual items ownership even inside containers, though the developers are a bit too lenient with what the player can steal plus the few guards - only one or two whom actually patrols anywhere - means you can loot mostly the entire lodge without effort.)
UI I'm getting better at, more mouse button and movement option would be very nice though instead of hotkeying everything (R to place stuff but LMB to pick it up? along with enter and t also assigned to such functionality and the categories are very limited and not used on looted objects or characters at all plus the UI is pretty bland.)
Game also relies on previous generation methods as discussed, heavy high-poly objects (Very very very high poly.) with tons of detailed textures (detailed, not large resolution itself.) such as making rocks appear to stick out or blending textures together rather than using shader effects plus the reliance on heavy particle effects and distant LOD "sprites" and crude low-detail models.
It's not bad though as it also manages very pretty shadows (Finally cracked that and now they actually look passable but you will hurt performance in order to achieve this as you have to overdo the ini tweaking rather brutally or how to describe it, 8192 resolution shouldn't be needed but when 4096 is default and doesn't actually look too impressive on many objects it's not much one can do.)
Also the highly atmospheric effects and careful landscaping (Not like the rather bland Oblivion Cyrodiil locations.) helps immensely but it relies heavily on texture works and it's compressed as fuck (Yeah I swear quite often in real life but tend to be more careful online.) leaving ugly artifacts plus the common 512x512 work on tons of objects, barrels shouldn't be blurry and the clothing and armor details are very rough in many instances, some are even too blurry in my opinion.
(Servant and maid clothing and similar poor folk outfits are a very common example of this, not that much clothing actually look good at all but still.)
I like the game a lot but it has some flaws and it's very simplified but it's also a very big game and it draws you in and immerses you in very effective ways, it's certainly pretty also but texture work would help a lot here.
(Can it be done though? my tweaks pushes VRAM and RAM usage above limitations causing crashes now and then - as far as I've been able to trace it - not surprising though when the game uses close to 1.8 GB VRAM on Ultra after some playing time reportedly, default ini.)
EDIT: Speaking of mods I've noticed it's increased quite noticeable since people managed to hack a bit in the ESM and BSA formats and files.
I don't use it myself but this disables the kill animations.

(Author would like to enforce first person as a alternative as well but will wait until the Creation kit is available as far as I've read and understood it.)
Some might like this but I think it's too blurry once I compared the texture files, blur / smoothing does help though but it reduces detail which is just as bad as over sharpening textures.

Might use this if I ever do a female character, prefer warrior builds and realism after all, probably too bulky for most but in line with how the males look. http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=44
Similar to the further above male texture clean up this is the same but for females and also not via blur effects as some other have done, might end up using it.

I read a thread on mmo champ about megathreads and why that person doesn't like them and it's exactly why I didn't post in there ... people only use the "go to last page" button and in 30 minutes 90+% of everyone misses your post...
Oh, and I'm new and desire attention!
(though in reality I'm not "new" at all ... I forgot my old login.. but I've been on nforce (back when nforce.nl was still the real nforce, "competing" with isonews) for a long time ... not sure how long but that must have been somewhere around 1999/2000...
