Perfectly legal for anyone who can buy a firearm to purchase in my state.

.50 caliber Barrett
.416 caliber Barrett

It's times like these I love America.. Wanna get it into the range to test fire if he'll let me Very Happy

Those spikey things on the top are rails..it allows you to add universal components and place them along the top half wherever you want. They will slide down the top and "click" into each little spike kind of like the way handcuffs work. A beautiful weapon..and an excellent choice for taking out prey at 1.5-2KM

Too bad some of those weapons end up in Mexico. But I think it should be everyone's right to trade with the Mexicans. It is your constitutional right to provide bad guys with guns!

We have to arm Mexico before we goto war with them..it is the way of things.

Honestly though very few people can handle the Barrett properly.. most of the shit that goes to Mexico is AR-15's and some other tactical rifles. Even then they are left with a top and bottom half..no additions..no training..and just firing wildly with dirty ammunition.

Violent video games + public acces to guns + messed up psychologies for half the country where the other half is riddled with egocentric bullies = people wonder why there are school shootings, random acts of violence, murders, shoot outs... you're enforcing the derp stereotype.

Right to 'bear' arms should be right to free health care and social support. But.. it sure is fun to unload a gun onto a moving target...

The Taurus is a beautiful gun man Wink

My friend has a tactical rifle like the M&P (An AR-15) It's fun as hell to shoot, but the muscles in my forearm were screaming after like 5 minutes. Guess it just takes getting used to.

Yeah..the .50 BMG rounds will run you fucking dry really quick.

This is mine:

Springfield X D-9 5" Tactical

Fucking pleasure to shoot.. near exact to a Glock 19 in size.

Only bad thing about it..the trigger is pretty heavy..and as I only have about 150 rounds through it..the springs are SOOOO Goddamn tight.. takes everything I have to put 16 rnds into the magazine....recoil spring is ridiculous as well.

Might have been the case with old Tarus, mine isn't sharp the least bit but I also shoot with range gloves on. I've put 200 rounts through it in an hour and didn't feel any pain or anything. Gloves only cost about 15 and are a good investment, helps your grip a lil bit

Difference between people who shouldn't own guns owning them and those of us who are trained and take the safety of their use serious.

Anywho

I really need to get some grip for the X D.. The X DM comes with tape on the grip but the X D-9 does not.. After every couple of shots i need to re position as the gun slips a little bit from the turnover.

I think the big gun that i've heard that will fuck with the pads of your fingers with the Taurus type trigger is the Kimber, especially the 1911. For some reason the machining puts a real sharp edge on trigger so it is consistently rubbing pretty hard.

I can see more clearly where the Taurus has the edges beveled..that Kimber absolutely does not..just a flat 90 degree turn. I guess if you're using proper trigger fingering that's not an issue..but not like i'm that skilled Razz

There really is no difference. Everyone has a breaking point. And more than half of the kids who did shoot up schools had safety training and gun training. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to remove the safety, know how to reload a firearm, or how to properly shoot it.

Probably the best saying used by the Open Carry associations in the states is that "Criminals will not care if they have permission to use the gun". Those that train safety, practice and discipline with a gun are much less inclined to reach that point in my opinion, and if we do the only thing that is going to happen is we will have better aim.

Kimbers are over rated anyways on top of being made in China. They rust really easy too.

if you're going to pay that much, get a Nighthawk Custom

@inz - Good Question Wink

Why do you say Kimbers rust really easy? I've seen people running kimbers in competition for quite a long time with no issues. They have some fantastic hardware. The only reason I can see rust forming is just lack of care. Rust will actually form more easily on higher carbon barrels so may have something to do with that I guess.

While that dimpling is a neat idea for grip..it turns me off like crazy.. If I wanted something sexy i'd still go for a Kimber I think even though it's almost $900 :

I think my next buy is going to be a cheaper pump action 30-06 though for hunting.

I think for the Kimber I would also add a laser grip..but that's a solid $2-300 extra.. I suppose if i'm already paying $900 for a gun it doesn't matter though...

I like and own the following:

Springfield Operator. Got it for $650 as it was used for research for a magazine article and also had some custom work done on it; trigger job, sights, etc...

Spoilered for size of pic - Beretta 90-Two
 Spoiler:

I actually owned a Barrett M82A1 that I purchased literally days before the 2000 ban on them in California. I owned it for about 4 years and sold it cuz I needed the money at the time (f'n ex-g/f). I wish I hadn't now, but nothing I can do about that. Made a nice profit on it and like someone said above, it was an absolute blast to fire. Was almost as fun watching it as well. One of the range officers asked me to shoot a man-hole cover. Put a hole right through it. It was the 10 round semi-automatic version too. I don't think they make those anymore Sad.

Edit: I also own 3 AR-15's of varying style, and a Remington 700 PSS which I used to hunt wild hog once. I also have a CX4-Storm in the same caliber as my 90-two and it is freaking fun as hell to shoot. I have a red dot sight on it and you CAN'T miss with that thing. So fun. Couple of other rifles as well, including a lever-action 30-30.

That's awesome sir Very Happy

How are you enjoying the Springfield 1911? Except your price, they're generally so crazy overpriced...but springfield puts out such good quality.

How was the recoil spring during the first 0-200 shots? I know on the X D it is tight as ..well the virgin mary.

Aint no running from the Barrett 50 BMG rounds.. I cannot imagine the military incendariary rounds on top of that shit Twisted Evil . I did manage to fire a few tracers over the WV mountain though..was fun to watch at night.

I would love to get a trigger job on my grinhurt 9.. Stock trigger is really crazy. It's safe though I can say that..id trust it with a kid. Has a absolute weightless trigger halfway then you get a sponge that has been sitting out for 5 months to pull back.

Just like the recoil spring it loosens up alot as rounds fire through it.. I think Springfield just uses crazy tight springs. First time out of the box..had to grip the entire slide just to rack it.

Since it was used, it actually felt great. Not to brag or anything especially since I'm not overly skilled in any way, but my very first shot with that 1911 was damn near the bullseye.

I personally love the Springfield I have. It really is a great pistol. I've tried some other 1911's and the only other one I ever shot decent with was a Para Ordnance (forget model though). I have a couple of other 1911's that I inherited more or less, but I haven't shot them in a long while but I know I wasn't as good with them as I was with the Springfield.

Edit: You know what? Now that you mentioned about the racking the slide part, I definitely recall it being a bit tougher than the other pistols I had tried out. So yes, their springs are quite "firm". Even to this day (I've owned it for about 3-4 yrs now), it's STILL one of the tougher slides I have on a pistol.

Speaking of trigger jobs, I got my 90-two worked on by a local guy in Southern Cali due to a deal I gave him on another pistol I sold him. If you're in the area, I can recommend him and might be able to get a deal on it for you since he said next time I needed a job done, he'd do it for free.

That's great to hear.. I've heard nothing but great reviews from the springfields even thoug htye are expensive. They shot straight to the front of the pack with the X D M and X D - 9.. They'll never overtake Glock but i'd love to see that happen.

Para Ordnance has some fantastic 1911's too.

I had a similar exerience with the X D-9. First 100 rounds I just chewed the hell out of the target.. had to push it back another 5-10 yards just to get the same challenge. I'm by absolutely no expert shooter..the gun just lets you really put it where it needs to go.

Oh i'm fucking jealous Laughing

Just started my interest a year ago..so you know..the money takes time to invest.

What is the light on the pistol? (looks like a Beretta?) I've been wanting to get one of the strobe lights for incapacitation.

It's a Streamlight TLR-2. My mom actually bought that for me for my birthday a few years back Very Happy.

http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=81

Some people think that a laser sight is "cheating" and doesn't help you. I actually believe quite the contrary. It really helps show you what you're doing wrong. For example, if you're pointing it at the bullseye, and ultimately shoot a hole that is to the right, chances are you are pulling the trigger slightly wrong and in turn, pulling your shot to the right.

It also will show you how you're dealing with the anticipation of recoil as well as the laser will "spaz-out" (pun intended) after your shot.

I don't use it all the time, but I do think it helps more than it hurts, once you understand the basics anyway.
