It's kinda funny, but as a european I dont understand his rage about people taking the bible literally. I know alot of christians and I have read alot of european christian philosophy from the 13th to the 19th century up to one of the first influential continental Atheists, Ludwig Feuerbach, and I see that there is alot more to it than the stupid people who take the Bible literally would know. I am an Agnostic and I wouldnt even discuss with those people. But I guess in Uhhmerika these people could be an issue.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
