At least it seems to be fixed.
Many people like me are using xbox360 connected to pc display via VGA cable.
When 360 is connected to pc display this way, blacks are grey and screen is overal well... grey.
Microsoft issued it 2 years ago with NXE and added option to change via "standard, intermediate and expanded" black levels. Where standard goes for TVs 16-235 and expanded is computer output levels 0-235.
Then users could just switch to expanded when connected to pc display to get rid of grey shade on screen... BUT
Blacks were black etc but it was too dark. ive done plenty of tests displaying the same picture or game on 360 and pc at the same time and been switching between displays and difference was rather big. 360 was too dark.
So it was either shaded grey sceen or too dark screen for vga/pc display users.
So what this topic is about, is that Ive noticed a bug/or fix that seems to be in new metro dashboard. When i Switch to expanded, it looks the same like premetro. But all You need to do is turn Your 360 off and on and colours seems to be PERFECT at least. Its not grey, blacks are black and its not to dark -basicly looks like it should.
This is weird tho, becouse if I will go to settings-screen- and choose expanded again, it will get darker like old times.... but then it fixes after restarting xbox...
i dont know if thats only me or is it a bug or fix but it sure helps. just go to options and choose expanded(even over it, if was choosen before) and see how screen gets darker and normal again after restart.
I dont think anyone besides me ever gave a shit about black levels and notices this stuff but heads up!
