There's a kings quest remake thread (Somewhere, search option still don't work that well.) but I'm unsure about a space quest thread.

Good games though. Very Happy
(I'm still stuck in the KQ1 remake, kinda feels like I'm just assisting the main character with ways to suicide on at this point.)

Gary Owens? Or Fail?

[edit] they used microsoft sam for the narrator and a 16 year old girl for roger..... this isn't looking good for this game [/edit]

and before anyone asks, the narrator was by far the main source of humor in all of these games, it was never a role given to anyone other than the extraordinary gary owens and from what i recall SQ2 had voices originally.... wondering why they didn't reuse that... at least...

Sq2 did not have voices. It was made in the 80's with "lego gfx" and only pc speaker for sound (Very ancient).

But I'm not gonna try to make people love this. Imho, remakes like this will mostly appeal to the people who played the originals back in the day. Smile

Ps. Happy New Year.

someone here hasn't played every sierra adventure ever made? cause i sure have.
especially space quest and LSL series, a lot of the space quest ones didn't have voice, but the point i was making, it's not worth doing if you refuse to do it right, also... these people sure don't seem to know what they're doing, i got a CTD on the stairway after you knock out the hunter when you're asked for a copy protection password... surprised they didn't catch something like that and remove it.

then again, from what i remember you didn't ever need to go down that staircase anyway, still though it shows they didn't look closely at the game coding when they did this and probably just ported it straight over to a new version of AGS which had mouse support.

i will say though, as far as i've seen they didn't change any of the puzzles except for the ones that require you to use arrow key navigation because (obviously) well... you have a mouse cursor instead.

but... maybe try to be informed before you assume, i still have the original disks + manuals, copyright and otherwise for just about every sierra adventure game sitting around here somewhere if i bothered to look long enough.

i didn't play the kings quest series quite as avidly as space quest, but i still got around to all them at one point, i never bothered to finish a few of the quest for glory games, i think the first and third ones.

suffice to say "making someone" if you mean me love sierra adventure games has been done since before the start of this millenium when i originally played them all.

probably will get around to finishing this eventually, the mouse instead of arrow keys to move makes things a bit awkward and i could finish them in my sleep by now though so who knows, at least they didn't change the writing though.

by the way, did you ever play freddy pharkas frontier pharmacist? extremely funny game, hopefully al lowe decides to pick that series back up at some point honestly, was very good.

Wtf with all the hate? I Also have the original versions with manuals and stuff. Having said that. It's been a long time since I played the originals, and I haven't had the time to play the remake...

And yes... I played through all the SQ's, PQ's and QFG's and Larry's and the KQ's. And Gabriel Knight series AND YES... Freddy Pharkas.

Now why do YOu assume that I'm not an old fart that played all these games over and over??? Hmm??

Whatever... Got better things to do than trying to convince you of my Old school knowledge of Sierra games. Do what feel like. I don't give a fuck...

still waiting for the answer Smile
it's a bit insulting to see you assume that i'm less knowledgable about sierra adventure games as well, no big deal though, it's just the internets.

i just took a few paragraphs to say the same thing really and i did add a bit of critique, nothing to prove here though and fuck spending a few hours to find the manuals even if anyone did care.

that was all my original point was btw there, i think the only one i haven't played a non-remake of is soft porn adventure, it was released before i was born.

and yet despite all that.... a space quest game without gary owens just can't feel right, feasible or no.

I love remakes. They are usually made of the best games of a century, and i find it fun to compare the old gfx... i wouldnt argue with someone who doesnt like it. Imagine all people in the world having the exactly same taste for everything Smile

yeah, let's do that actually.

pretty noticable improvement actually, i don't know how (maybe i had #5 in mind) but somehow i managed to trick myself into thinking they were untouched from the previous, glad to see i'm wrong though for sure, does make me wonder why they didn't go for something more like....

space quest 6 graphics, this remake is pretty damn recent right? i guess maybe they didn't want to change the art style up too much, kinda disappointing we got worse than SQ6 graphics from a recent remake, but i think on the easily notable improvement we can let them slide for only updating from 1990s to 2001 or so at best, still, SQ6 was extremely nice looking, mind blowingly good looking for it's time in fact when it came out and that's the original graphics, the ones with less animation came out even better too such as...

i remember finding that scene for the first time playing SQ6 and wondering how it looked so much better and stood out a bit from the rest, i guess though there were only about 6-10 or so things, maybe 20 at most that animated in that scene but it seemed like they took their time on it to design around the aliasing a little more than the rest to some point.
