The game will use an improved version of the Empire: Total War engine to simulate the major battles of Napoleon's rule, or those which are started by the player in the campaign. Features include:

  • Napoleon: Total War furthers the award-winning franchise with characters and narratives, similar to (though expanded upon)Empire's "Road to Independence" campaign. It will use, thanks to Empire's engine, the system which brought the Total War series success: the turn-based campaign and the real-time battles.
  • Three new episodic campaigns, encompassing the Italy, Egypt and Europe campaigns, giving objectives, but still the freedom to not have to follow historical events.
  • Multiplayer: Napoleon features multiple multiplayer modes with many features and numerous online functionalities: Steam achievements, gameplay bonuses, uniform editor and voice communications.
  • Many Napoleonic battles and advanced weapons to allow for large battles and more options in the campaign.

Unless they fix Empire and give what was promised such as MPC I'm not buying anymore. I own them all starting from the original Shogun so they are about to lose a long time supporter and fan and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I also hate their new method of making units DLC no matter how little it costs. The historical units should have been in the game in the first place. Making them come later and as DLC that you have to pay for simply creates imbalances. This cannot be allowed in a strategy game.

A Napoleon game is sweet as far as I'm concerned. Looking forward to this one. You yanks should be particularly happy though because if they can make a TW from the napoleonic era, they can also make one of your civil war.

I wonder will they continue on through to modern times , WW1 , WW2 and all the other conflict up to current , could be interesting , enhance the spy sabotage bit , introduce smuggling / terrorism etc .

None of the modern wars really involve huge armies, and I'm not sure the political aspects of the game are doable for modern times. I think they should revisit more of the classic times, like medieval.

I vote for an Epic Rome Total War game spanning the time period of around 700BC to around the time Ostrogoths took over the Western Empire. Course you could just pick an era to play in and stuff.

I'll probably just be pirating this game if ever. Empire left a bad taste in my mouth in terms of support.

Speaking of that it seems they'll release a DLC for King Arthur sometime later this year, there's also some other stuff for later games and a rather odd Just Cause 2 listing.

Napelon content.

King Arthur DLC ID.

Just Cause 2 DLC "Optimism"

Not pictured is the new DLC for Empire Total War, "Elite units of the East"

We have a "beta" of the MP campaign. It's pretty much the most buggy shit I've ever played. Players get desycnhed through a match without the game noticing, 9/10 times you can't actually fight a battle, even though you've ticked the option for it.

I did check up on it after my post, grabbed a beta key and downloaded empire so i will check it out, but quite frankly its disappointing that they still do not have it done. At least the battles are not simulated anymore. I believe they were when the beta first started. How ridiculous is that? Total war campaign multiplayer, but .. ehm.. you cant fight your own battles.

I will check it out and see for myself i guess. One thing is certain tho: CA betrayed the trust of many of its players. Trust they might just never see again.
