The sad thing is that the FPS will probably end up selling more.

So Much WinSo Much WinSo Much WinSo Much WinSo Much Win

And Firaxis of all teams. For the first time, I'm not instantly sceptical after hearing "we are such a huge fans of the original".

It looks like it has been in development (possibly paused for a while, and the started again) since 2007: http://www.gamespot.com/news/x-com-confirmed-for-360-pc-firaxis-working-on-turn-based-sequel-6238162

"The rumor is that there's two X-Com games--[an] FPS from Irrational and [a] turn-based one from Firaxis." <- it came true

Multi-platform strategy game. What could possibly go wrong?

They showed with Civ-Revolutions that they really know how to translate complex games into consoles. Sure it wasn't even nearly as complex as the PC Civs, but it very much felt like a Civ game. And lets be honest, the Xcom games were never really that ultra deep in terms of controls. Everything that was possible in the old games is very much doable with a controller and some careful UI design. Being a multiplatform game really doesn't bother me that much, especially since it's Firaxis behind the wheel.

And at a time when even the console crowd liked their games a little more challenging too. Today they would call those games outdated, annoying and frustrating.

I hope Firaxis is aware and handling it as a niche game (nowadays)(Like Dark Souls / Demon Souls) and doesn't even try to bring it to the broadest audience possible . Then this should work out well. A little bit more simplified or made more comfortable, but still fine.

My point is it worked with the controller.

I am not talking about whether the platforms they target will affect the game design. For all I know it could be a PC exclusive and still make bad decisions with it.

Sure, that's always possible too.

It worked like shit with a controller, but had mouse support on both the PS and CD32.

15 months after release i'm still waiting to finish my mp game. Still waiting for mods to be enabled in multiplayer and the possibility to use dlc in multiplayer. Its a pile of crap if you compare it to what they offer in their advertisements.

Along with the announcement of a new game, X-Com series went on sale on Steam (as a daily deal): http://store.steampowered.com/news/7108/

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/964/ ~ 5 euros for all games

Clever Wink (Can't be a coincidence)

Ditto. I just won't hold my breath, the comment about it coming to console and a wider market just doesn't sit well with me. Every time I have read that, it is piss poor game, at least for me.

If it sucks there is at least Extraterrestrials 2, and that other one Smile
