tried search, nothing comes up, so i may be wrong about it.

it is just me, or the indie genre got a bit shitty, and it goes on the path "aaa" games got trough ?
lots of crap games, i have some titles on the watch list for this year, but they are waaaay lesser than last year. and some are just sequels.
i'm a bit disappointed, if those games goes to crapper to, what i can do in my free time ?

It's become more popular lately and as such has grown and how to say it best, seen more exposure?

Thus while there's more games the quality also varies a lot more. Smile

Still I don't see much of a difference myself, quality has usually been pretty varied with these games although now there's more of them.
(Or how to best say it.)

I guess it's due to how popular some of these games have become that more people are trying to develop their own games, not entirely sure on this though.

However I still like that there's more activity now even if the overall quality varies rather heavily from game to game.
(There's a lot of projects on sites such as - http://www.indiedb.com/games - plus all news coverage about them via websites like say http://indiegames.com/index.html )

EDIT: More of them are also going retail or premium or what to call it best, with equally varied results from Minecraft to Dino-D-Day or what best to compare to.
(Meatboy, Isaac, Bastion and other highly popular ones and then games like just Dino D Day which had a interesting concept but poor execution.)

Really? This year(as in 2011) has been great for indie games.

Bastion, Frozen Synapse, The Binding of Isaac, Terraria, Minecraft, unepic, Gemini Rue, Jamestown, Hard Reset (well, maybe it's not indie, but still low budget), Trine 2, SpaceChem, Space Pirates and Zombies, Rock of Ages, Puzzle Agent 2, Orcs Must Die!, Dungeon Defenders, E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Dungeons of Dredmor, Cthulhu Saves the World, Breath of Death VII, Blocks That Matter...

And these are just from the top of my head.

last year (2011) was a really great one.
with what i payed for witcher+skrym for example i got like 20 indie games, and i played more h that i had witcher + skrym combined.
i hope 2012 will be a good year to.

I agree.

I'm not sure if its extra exposure, or stupid indie devs who think they can make crap and sell it for $10.

The whole point of an indie game to me is that it offers unique gameplay that is fun.
