I don't mind working on call, as I ge to stay at home all week. some weeks can really test the patience though. Was up till around 1AM reading back through Furies of Calderon and just as I was going to bed, something decided to go down, and another..and another..and another.. Next thing i knew it was 10am Sad

Caught naps all day, but no way my schedule is going to be quite right tomorrow.

my best friend was an on call life guard manager. Really sucked when she wanted to do something some day but had to limit her options in case she got called

I'm a Sys Admin... I stare at my computer and pray nothing goes wrong with other peoples computers so I don't have to use my computer to fix their computer. computer. servers. internets.

Indeed, it's the first book in the set, "Codex Alera"

A fantastic set of books, it sits somewhere between harry potter and game of thrones, with a high emphasis on military and political strategy while following the path of a boy through his adulthood.
