Three days ago I thought I had caught a common cold. Day 2 showed me that Day 1 was just a joke and my throat, nasal area, chest, all sore and hurting even when breathing. Thought it couldn't get worse.. lol

Woke up 4am, could barely move, so weak, so painful to even sit up, sweating and freezing constantly, trying NOT to cough but can't stop it, and the pain almost makes me scream. I almost wanted to die when I woke up.

Oh well, a manly man doesn't complain about being very very ill.

But I do.

Guess I'll have to change my nick to franta or amiga.

yeah I never get that, I have had loads of colds but only ever had fly once.

When I had flu I couldnt do anything, couldnt even lift my head, I was burining up and shivering at the same time, I wouldnt wish flu on anyone.

I would go to the doctors when you can, my wife recently had the cold you described frant and her throat didnt get any better (infact it was getting worse ) till she took anti biotics.

Got some aid to relieve some of the pain and suffering.

Noscapin (cough suppressant)
Our version of Tylenol 3 (500mg paracetamol/30mg codeine (codeine is cough suppressant as well)
Zyx (pharmacy grade throat pain reliever)
Green Tea with mint to loosen up the gunk in the lungs.

Obviously I'll have to allow for coughing and stay away from cough suppressants regularly, I don't want to get pneumonia after this.

You come over and play with my sisters 5 kids in all ages and you're guaranteed to catch a flu or a cold. A strong immune system will actually shorten the span of the illness but probably increase the suffering since it's WW3 in your body.

Same here. The SAME fucking thing! Started as a normal cold, then progressed to this insanely painful aching, sweating, rapid heat changing bullshit. What the hell?

Yeah, especially if you haven't taken your shots this year, heh. It's my own damned fault.. I was supposed to get a flu booster this year, like I always do, but *shrug* I guess I never made the time. I was so feverish when I woke up yesterday, apparently I was talking in tongues >_<

Not true. Been training for many years now, minimum three days a week, sometimes even six. Didn't affect me getting sick in the slightest. I still get the cold/flu once or twice a year.

Seriously the flu jab?, what are you elderly, I would dream of getting a jab that a job my immune system could deal with.

Its not about being hard, lol.

A flu jabs something elderly people have, not fit healthy young adults.

Perhaps that's the norm in UK but not in Norway? Perhaps Sabin's got some illness we don't know about that would make the jab a good thing? Who knows, who cares.

I had it once. Fucker put me out cold for a week +. When I shivered it rattled me like a bag of bones, when i coughed i howled like an injured dog, and the forehead, the throat, the chest, the eyes (I also got pink eye at the same time \o/). Sweating was a bitch Sad Handled it like a pro. Stayed in bed. Put on some extra layers. Covered myself in the blanket. And just slept. \o/

3 days of this sauna shit w/o a shower and i was all \o/ but then i stood up and was all /o\ so fuck... flu is evil.

Get well man! People die from the flu, so you better handle yourself well!

And people who train/work out also get sick. It's not as common, but it happens and when it happens... regular flu that we get is like aids flu for them.

A flu jab is for young, elderly, people suffering from allergies or anyone with a respiratory illness... Such as asthma. I have asthma, Randy Savage. Be glad you don't.

How does antibiotics help against a virus?

A flu is by definition a virus, ie. a piece of DNA/RNA that enters your body and enter your cells and start replicating which in turn puts the body's defense system into scramble mode which is what causes all the issues.

You CAN get secondary infections, but then you seek care for that. I'm not there yet, antibiotics wouldn't do shit against this horrible flu.
