I am using pop stopper prof 1.60 version...which had been good. But lately, I am getting all sorts of pop ups. I even have a problem where I will be on site and another window will pop up (without me clicking on another site). The other window is usually some kind of search engine site.

I deleted my cookies, IE files..etc.

Ran Spybot, Adware, Norton...nothing works.

Any ideas?

thanks

Maxthon - Adds so much added pop-up protection--better than Firefox+IE. try it!

lol at syn; you trully are an individual (relating to OMASP2)

back on topic:
You might try Pest Patrol 5.0. I have been playing around with it for a week or so and seems to be pretty solid. It's a whole spyware remover, cookie/popup blocker suite. I can't give it thumbs up all the way though because I'm still testing it.

*edit* After week of use.
Pest Patrol 5.0 corportate is what I was testing and it's detection of spyware/adware etc. is very good. The fact that its corporte, which means you can scan multiple drives on a network is especially nice if you have multiple putters at home. But I have a problem with the program, where it keeps loading new handles which after a while exceed over a thousand which in turn can hog up your recources especially memory.

Nothing wrong with Mozilla firefox 1.0. I don't know why you would hate it if you compare it to crappy IE. If It's because sites display wrong then It's because the webmasters are lame and code for IE.

WOW.. 6 months later..you still haven't found the right pop-up stopper...
http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=557

my advise.. go for a browser switch.. Dump IE and go for Firefox or Opera.
Both have good built-in pop-up blocker..

If you use XP, upgrade to SP2, I never liked using third party tool-bars. If you're not, or even if you are using XP, you might want to try Opera, which comes with a great popup blocker and real tabbed browsing, not like the bootleg tabbed browsing of firefox that kept on opening popups in new windows. I've used firefox for a few months before getting tired of it eating up my RAM, for a bare-essentials brower, it uses over 50mb of RAM, sometimes more.

The folks at Support Firefox also pissed me off with their lame firefox promotion campaign where they spent $250,000 on a full page NY Times ad, which anyone who doesn't know probably thought was an ad for an animal shelter. They could've very easily spent that money getting an actual progrogrammer to fix the terrible memory leak.

Ad Muncher

It removes embeded ads and I've never seen a popup in well over 2 years of use. Make sure your system is clean before installing it otherwise you'll still get popups from adware.

I too use Maxthon and love it. Firefox sucks. It has horrible tabbed window management and it doesnt work with all websites. Maxthon is just IE with a new GUI. I do not use any other popup blocker aside from Ad Muncher. If you use Maxthon with Ad Muncher you may need to set the Target File in the options, which is easy.

Ad Muncher recieves the HTML before your browser does and removes any popup crap. It does not decrease performance and it is very light-weight. It's first version was under 60k, its all programmed in ASM.
