From de site:
" Wargame: European Escalation is a real-time strategy game on PC, that maintains the two core values of the classic wargame (depth and reflection)
while offering a dynamic, real-time gameplay, and an incredibly spectacular and realistic visual experience. "

New game by the Ruse devs. The on-going Beta as been getting praise by almost everybody (from my quick glance) available for all that pre-order.. 40€
Anyone in? Feeling to share the experience? Hype me up please
preordered on steam, its quite fun!
you gain new stars every level you achieve on matchmaking or normal games, then you can unlock more units/variants to your "deck".
brb and i tell you more.
you have to build a "deck" of units (you got at the beginning 2 starter decks, 1 for nation) to bring on battles, and MOST of these units, have other variants!
taking the base speznatz for example:
speznatz squad with LAW AT missiles loaded into a simple APC
speznatz with AA missiles and an armored IFV
speznatz with ATGM (muuuuuch deadlier than LAW ) carried on the field by a transport helicopter!
it's your choice what you will unlock and play in any battle!
every unit and variant got many differences, such as optics (vision range) stabilizers (if the unit can fire and have a good accuracy while moving), fuel tanks, ammo reserve and armor thickness for sides.
multiplayer ladder, matchmaking, REPLAY VIEWER (fuck yeah), 4vs4 player, huge maps, cold war era.
only downside? no jets. :1
maybe 40€ for a preorder it's a bit much, but for me are worth it.
Been playing this for the past couple of days. Closest comparison I'd say is probably a mix of RUSE and World in Conflict.
You have a limited amount of units you can bring into a match, and the rate at which you gain new resources is quite slow. This makes your units very significant, so if you manage to take out 4 enemy Challenger tanks (the most expensive NATO tank), you've dealt a blow they're unlikely to recover from.
It's a fun game so far, been playing about 15 hours.
Oh, and it's very satisfying when your long-range SAM the enemy hasn't seen yet takes out their squad of Apaches with a single shot per helicopter
to spice up, check this video gameplay of the beta!
hey dezztroy, hit me up if you want to team up and play; name is Guyver!
i hope you are playing on the PACT side! (loving the T-80 frontal armor and AA machine gun! )
made a little gameplay video: the video quality it's horrible, sorry for that, i will fix for the next one! also the replay stops some animation on units, like hely: ingame they works.
check my mouse pointer to get the strategy and most feature!
my enemy didn't setup some recon units and a proper AA in the surrounding main base, so i exploited it first with my hely recon, to spot eventually AA hidden/infantry along the road, then bringing my hind full of spetsnaz dealing with his artillery, but the plan doesnt go so well for the low stock on missile over my hind and the mounted machine gun over the artillery pieces!
Are there no airstrikes available like in World in Conflict ?
No. Indirect fire comes in the form of howitzers and rocket artillery, both with their own pros and cons. This works very well because of the limited ammo in place.
Sadly you cannot play against AI in multiplayer.
If you have time, watch this It gives a pretty good idea of how the game plays.
Yea ive seen that, but still... modern warfare without jets, what is this madness?
It looks decent although the explosions arent nearly as nice as in WIC , but the maps are waaaay bigger. I just wonder if the game is any good without the competetive play, against KI,Campagin etc.

Having jets would mean either making them unrealistically slow so that AA has enough time to target them, or giving AA about 10x the range. Both are terrible solutions.
This is one of those games that's more entertaining to watch than it is to play. It looks to me like it suffers the same problem as most other RTS' - in two weeks time everyone figures out the optimal build orders and half the units become totally disused, devolving into straight rock, paper, scissors ad nauseum.
Does kinda make me wanna reinstall World In Conflict though
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

There is a singleplayer campaign, but the game does require you to login to access it (AFAIK atleast. You are still allowed to play if you disconnect mid-game).

Well I can tell you that you are most definatly wrong.
There are a huge number of units, and you can only bring a limited number with you with your 'decks'. In the end the game requires good teamwork to win. I can attempt to have a well rounded 'deck' but i'm better off working with my team mates before hand and each person choosing a deck for a specific task. Nor are there particular units that are better then the rest.
This is one the best RTS's ive played in a while. If you think you have a 'winning' unit combination you are sure to be pummelled.
In my opinion, yes. I really enjoy the game. It takes a bit to learn it as you have to learn to supply your units with fuel and ammo, along with learning how to use terrain. Make sure you use the 'move fast' command when moving units longer distances. This orders them to take roads for the duration of travel - Which also results in less fuel used.
There've been several reports about the crack being faulty and not being able to properly start or take one through the first mission to the end. Onto the wait for a stable cure again.

This game is all about the multiplayer. Playing it for the singleplayer is a waste of time IMO.
