I was thinking about some parts of the "Asian" culture, but sure, Africa is a good example as well.
This sort of sick stuff is not limited to one area or culture. It is unfortunately present and widespread throughout the seediest underbellies of all places.

I was not aware that plastic surgery only happened in the US. Also good to know the rest of the world has no police brutality. Slightly confused about the Catholic church and the Amish being founded in the US, I could have sworn those were in other countries, but that must be due to my poor US education. The scandles I hear about foreign politicians must be lies by our evil news corporations, as well as the class envy we hear so much of in countries such as Greece.

The reason USA is so often demonized by a lot of people is because of how fucking holy americans and (thus) hypocritical the USA looks to the rest of the world. With its "We're saving the world/protecting freedom and democracy"-bullshit.
The fact that it happens elsewhere in the world doesn't make it any better.
I think that there are plenty of smart, educated, reasonable Americans out there, unfortunately they are a minority. No other country as a whole is much better, I agree with you there (certainly not mine). But most of them don't go out and pretend to be better either while doing stupid shit on such a grand scale, and that is why it rubs many (including me) the wrong way.

So if push comes to shove, and you are force to pick between living in the USA and Saudi Arabia (or some other shithole in Africa), you'd go for Arabia? Give me a fucking break. FYI, he's not a Marine. Either that or was a marine and isn't anymore. He is out of uniform, and if anyone in his command saw that video he'd get in serious trouble. He's also got the facial hair which is also a complete no-no. And no, I doubt he has a shaving waiver as his facial hair is 'stylish' and not just trimmed.

'Marine Corps Veteran' and wearing clothing he shouldn't be, and acting like he is still an active service member. I've got no problem with his message, but he is abusing the uniform.

Seeing as how he claims to have just come back from two tours, I presume that means he's on leave and is given authority to wear what he wants. No? He's just wearing a desert jacket and showing off his medals, something else I wasn't aware was prohibited.
I think the reason he's wearing those is to show the police that he's not just another civvie so that they don't stick a baton up his ass

Service members are only authorized to wear the utility uniform while at their duty location or doing something related to their duties.
Further, he isn't on leave. It said 'Veteran' which means he got out, or got kicked out. So he isn't allowed to wear the uniform anymore. He could keep the uniform, but he can't wear it like that.
Frankly, I doubt he is even a veteran. There are a number of people who finely craft the lie that they were in the service - But never actually were.

Anyone who served an honorable term of enlistment could be called a veteran.
I have no idea if he is a faker or not; What I can tell you is that most anyone who has a shred of honor for his service wouldn't abuse his uniform like that. People who are real veterans typically don't have the attitude of walking around like an attention whore bringing that fact up.
I'm not sure why you're so angry with the guy or what he was doing. He hasn't been whoring it up, rather he's been standing up for the people you military guys claim to do on a daily basis anyhow. Except rather than doing it in a conflict zone, something he has already done for several years (if he's telling the truth), he's now doing it where it matters the most; at home. Protecting innocent people from abuse and brutality.
Who cares how he chooses to do that? If wearing his medals and/or jacket helps legitimise his voice when sounding off to the police, so what? Power to him. As Sev said; he was calm, rational, helpful and he acted as a barrier between innocent civilised protesters and aggressive police. It's not like he was profiteering off his military background/etc.
