Aye, this. If that's a FILM, then it looks like it could be amazing (loving the uber-dark origins of Reptile and Baraka, that shit is epic!) but, like you said, if it's just some cut-scene for a new game? Then meh. Royal meh.
it could be a rebirth for the movie franchise, because let's face it; while MK1 was an awesome film, the sequel was beyond terrible. Hopefully this is a rebirth for the movie franchise. For once I wouldn't begrudge Hollywood's lack of original ideas

Seems a lot of info is leaking out about this. Apparently it's a test screening for the upcoming R-rated (finally!!) Mortal Kombat movie, which isn't due until 2013 - it's on IMDb. There's no word whether the actors shown in the viral are the ones that will for sure play the parts in the upcoming movie, but I sure as hell hope so!!

Update: Actress Jeri Ryan, the actress portraying Sonya Blade in the video, has confirmed via Twitter that this is a short film created by a director to sell Warner Bros. on his Mortal Kombat pitch. "It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film," Ryan says on her Twitter page, adding " I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was." Thanks to Zimnick for pointing us towards Jeri's updates!

But i don't think it has a lot to do about MK, outside the character names.
MK always was about underworld and weird ass creatures.
This "movie" is about humans who had a sick hobby.
and BTW, Jeri Ryan "Sonya Blade" in that movie, confirmed its not a movie.
Just a unknown producers take on a reboot.
But like me there is more people who think this has nothing to do with MK series, and thus it sucks as a MK movie.
