|
 |
k guys! need some help here!!
i'm trying to use the ps3 media server to watch my movies on the big screen, but it isn't possible, because there are tons of lags and video stuttering, with all files, not only mkv ones.
i've tried many configurations, even the direct wired connection pc - ps3, and nothing... stuttering goes on and on making every single movie unwatchable.
i haven't downloaded any other codec.
my ps3 is from the old ones.
any clues?
thx. i feel frustrated,

I fucking HATE TVersity - ps3 media server is the only thing I've found usable, but I too have had some issues with stuttering in the past, and nearly always has it been a network problem (eg. the transfer speed between the PS3 & the computer streaming has been lower due to (in my case) network configuration. I used to have really shitty transfer speeds due to a faulty cable and improper network card setup in Windows. After I cleared that up it started working again.
The default settings in PS3 media server should work with any regular xvid-movie, so if it doesn't it probably isn't about PS3 Media Server being malconfigured.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

you need a decent cpu for ps3mediaserver as it transcodes mkv on the fly, also limit it to 30 mbps in the settings.
i have a core i7 and it works perfectly even for high bitrate 1080p mkv files, with my older processor a couple years back it was a different story though.

Hey like i said I stopped using it ages ago.. I bought a WDTV Live Player a few years ago as i didn't want to wear out my xbox/ps3 for stupid video stuff.. not worth it..
However I was able to stream MKV HD back then no problem to my xbox or ps3 as long as I never paused.. (wired).
VLC can stream too.. I use to stream ufc fights from sopcast to my xbox/ps3 via VLC.

What's your pc specs?I strongly recommend a quad core for playing mkv files.I never had a problem with the q6600 cpu. Also check your hard drives for problems, bad sectors etc.Make a general cleanup in your drives using something like Glary Utilities. Finally, try different versions of PS3 media server.
Q6600 OC 3.0ghz, MSI R9 280x Gaming Edition, 7gb ram, Asus P5KC

@The_Zeel: why to limit it to 30mbps? i thought with no limitation should be better... ??
system specs: i5 quad core, 3,2 ghz. 6gb ddrram, should be fine ?
