Starts with a video of Mass Effect 3 and voice over saying "Back to its RPG roots". How good can the rest really be? Sad

After the Mass Effect 3 shit at the start there's a nice presentation made by Tim Cain about Fallout, so well worth the watch, just skip the ME3 heap of dung.

Now take a second and imagine that running on a high-end pc. Imagine photorealism.

Now slap yourself, wake up and be sad that consoles are running the industry.

L.A noire did faces and body animation separetly.
Faces were recorded by "head only" cameras
and body by standard motion capture stuff.

this time 60cameras are capturing everything. movement, face motion and voice at the same time. complete performance.

I still think that Heavy rain tech demo was more impressive back at a time.

Imo, L.A noire does it very well. FMV faces are just a bit too low res sometimes

no. no. The actress still have glowing balls on her body. But she is doing whole performance for those 60 cameras. Its not kinect -like. It is more like very very detailed motion capture of body + fmv faces but at the same time.

btw. isnt one of last big games they did NOT used motion capture was chaos theory?

What i've noticed is that making things look more "real" dosen't always generally adapt into a something we can "relate" too.

A lot of artist, engineers, are trying to create real life look to their 3D Models, and 3D rendering. For example, the only reason this is primarily touching/resonates with us. Is because it was written and acted well, and also Quantic Dream does a really good job. (Wheres Omikron 2 Sad / Nomad Soul 2 Sad )

But if someone like bioware had their hand on the technology it would be probably underwhelming, and nothing special.

All, and all, my point is we all have played a lot of non realistic looking game that has touched our hearts, and souls. The gaming industry needs to work on making, well written stories that incorporates polished gameplay within the story.

Instead of making movies that you play.

PC Specs: A Maganavox' Odyssey
Tweaked to play Frogger, Lemmings & GTA4

Wait a minute I thought we could do this with 2007 hardware, I mean its just rendering a single room and faces that are about on par with crysis 1 faces

I dont get whats so impressive about this Confused

The impressive thing is, that's a PS3 tech demo Razz

Though aside from the mere technical aspects I was referring to the emotional impact and direction, which are spot-on in this demonstration Smile
