not only that games are getting worse and worse in terms of length so that reviewers can rush through them as quickly as possible to have the first review out should they get a preview copy as well.

Reviews have indeed an enormous influence these days, just look at Derpacritic, developers and publishers actually make decisions based on the scores instead of the quality of their games/customer satisfaction. It's very sad.

games are getting worse because the mass want it like that.
they want it easy, fast paced and with a lot of action.
"real" (mostly pc) gamers like most on this board want a deep and atmospheric game.
so until everyone stops playing we won't get the old times back and i don't think they will ever be back.
concentrated on indie games, that is all u can do.

I doubt developers make decisions based on reviews, but publishers definitely do.
Most developers I've met are smart people that love gaming and their work. Publishers & studio big shots are the ones that force generic & streamlined games that test groups respond well to.

this is not what gamers want only retards or people who play games for all the wrong reasons.

why would you blame them , if it brings them more money then off course they'll follow the trend
it's the fault of the supposed "gamers" who eat up everything , that's why proper un-derped games are only being made by small or indie developers because they make it for the hardcore fans who strive for anything new these days.

This is one reason why I stick to mostly strategy games (i.e. WW2 hex, turn-based, space 4X, etc.). The same cookie-cutter crap is regurgitated over and over again. That's why I'm not too impressed with Diablo 3/GW2 betas because how many ways can you polish the same turd?

Yeah, because KillerCrocker goes out of his way to attack and troll others, honest. The site is better off without Trolltis and you know it.. and the sooner Dredge is removed, the better as well. Well I agree, but sometimes it is hard not to follow the flow. I have no idea what was this time, but last time when he created the threads, he was literally asking to get trolled, and got so much he exploded. All I am saying is he has to bear responsibility as well, and the faster he accepts that and stops jumping, the better for him, the trolls and the forum.
